Question re scar removal

I have scars on my back.

According to friends they are fine. According to me they are disgusting!

I just wondered if it is possible to have some sort of laser treatment to remove the scarring. It's very red and angry looking even after 2 years (I had a sabecious cyst removed.)

Have you used silicon therapy - patches/gel yet?

It sounds like it might be hypertrophic - go and see your GP as steroid injections or silicon treatment can be very effective

What does hypertrophic mean?

You can buy silicon plasters which you wear like a plaster over the scar, I have used the Elastoplast ones and they are £20 a box for about 20 iirc and I needed 3 boxes. They stayed on really well and I usually go 2 days out of them as they were slightly waterproofish. Healgel is a silicon cream, heard good things about it but not used it personally. Silicon improves the look of redness and helps flatten the scar tissue. Massage is excellent too as improves circulation.

But I would have it checked by the GP first.
