Longchamp le pliage - are these sturdy?

Hello, Does anyone have the large size le pliage and is it pretty sturdy? I'm starting to travel more with work and want one for small laptop and files for a cabin bag rather than lug a chunky laptop bag with me. I know they won't protect from knocks but can they carry a bit of weight? tia

Yes they are sturdy, though as you say, they won't protect against knocks. Basically they are a posh shopping bag. Have you discounted the sort of laptop bags that Knomo make?

No thanks will check Knomo out - I like the look of Le Pliage but hadn't realised how pricey they were for basically a nylon bag - ta!

Have you looked at the Ally Capellino satchels, as many of them have compartments for laptops etc. She has her own line, plus the AO range for Apple and also a cheaper line for Tate Modern. I'm a big fan of her bags, they are not the cheapest but are really well made and sturdy.

try le pliage specifically made for laptops:

I agree, I've never heard of Ally Capellino, but following post by Saurus72, you probably can get a good value from the Tate Modern website for Ally Capellino

Thanks for all the suggestions,

The Ally Capellino at Tate modern is very nice but has no zip top, I will check out her other bags.

It's a shame the le pliage lap top bag only has short handles, I want something for shoulder carrying.

I have 2 Le Pliage bags with long straps, which I carry on my shoulder. I've found them terrifically sturdy - have lasted years carrying pretty heavy loads. I have carried my lap top in them often, though they aren't designated laptop bags.
