Shorts for under a dress?

ihearttc · 18/05/2014 12:37

Ive got some lovely Maxi Dresses but I never wear them as my legs rub together at the top and make them really sore. Im not big (size 10) but obviously my thighs have other ideas!

I really want some little shorts which will come to mid thigh but all the ones I have seen are either huge control things or cycling shorts which will be too long for me cause Im only 4ft 10.

Any suggestions? Ive tried the deodorant thing on them and it didn't work.

There an ad, for cream or gel to prevent chafing, showing women dancing with gay abandon in summer clothes thanks to the cream. I think its called lanocane.

M&S sell magic shorts which are like tights without legs in standard sizes. I find these do the trick perfectly.

I have used Bodyglide chafing stick for the last two summers and I haven't had any issues. I am so, so pleased that I found it. It has been a lifesaver.

Talcum powder on the inside thighs works for me!

burnishedsilver · 19/05/2014 11:09

Thats hilarious witchway.

capsium · 19/05/2014 11:24

Witchway Grin You see practical and ...ahem... attractive!

drspouse · 19/05/2014 11:27

But you wouldn't want to fall out. Oh no.

kentishgirl · 19/05/2014 11:31

I've cut down cheap leggings sometimes. They don't roll up.

kitkat1967 · 19/05/2014 12:38

I also use a chaf stick (aimed at runners) - has been a revelation (I'm only a small size 10 but used to suffer).

Picturesinthefirelight · 19/05/2014 13:04

You could try perhaps dance shorts.

TheCraicDealer · 19/05/2014 13:26

I'm a size ten as well but I have flabby thighs [shakes fist] If you're anywhere near a Victorias Secret, these yoga shorts are good. I had to buy two pairs the last time I was in Florida- after two days walking around Disney I was in agony! They were a godsend. Defo going to try that anti-chafe stuff- does it last all day Companion?

squoosh · 19/05/2014 15:06

Seriously, Body Glide is the future. Much better than shorts or any of that malarkey.

ilovemydoggy · 19/05/2014 15:12

I'm so glad this thread was done, I suffer badly but got some really good ideas on here. Thank you.

lynniep · 19/05/2014 15:17

I am big with thunderous thighs! And I always wear below the knee leggings with dresses so can't help with that one.

However if I have occasion where leggins are a no no, this is very good - no chafing!

CMOTDibbler · 19/05/2014 15:21

I don't use it on my thighs, but Body Glide does last amazingly well, and much less gloopy than the lancane gel.

Both products are great to put on your feet if you have shoes that rub a bit

splodgeness · 19/05/2014 17:54

This thread comes up at this time of year, and usually some ignorant dipstick says something loosing weight, so the fact that no-one has yet is progress !!

I have tried lots of things but I can confirm that the deodorant trick really does work. I just use spray on between the thighs and let it dry. Also works if your shoes are rubbing.

splodgeness · 19/05/2014 17:58

There are also these which have been well reviewed and won't make you hot like leggings
www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Bandelettes

I dont rate the lancane, it doesn't last.

The Sloggi long leg knickers are fab for chub rub.
