I always seem to get fluid retention around my ankles and would love to hear any ideas on how to stop, lower, avoid it.

I drink plenty of water, (2-3 litres), little caffeine, low salt, try and exercise though could do more, am not overweight

any advice?

See GP I feel in case a medical problem

Feet up when you can, prob ankle swirly exercises would help, have you a husband to massage elevated ankles nightly?

Keep your feet up as much as possible.

I get the same problem. I'm pretty sure it's just poor circulation. Varicose veins run in my family - my mum, my sister, my aunt, some of my nieces. So I'm really aware of looking after my legs.

Ankle circling and stretching up and down helps, a bit. But the only thing that really makes a difference is putting feet up. If I'm sitting on sofa, feet come up next to me. Or stretched right out. If ankles are really bad I'll put feet up on cushion - and if really bad I'll lay on sofa and put feet up on back of it!

Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage (MLD). Use a proper Vodder trained therapist (not a beauty salon type place) who has experience in treating conditions like lymphoedema.

Is very relaxing and you'll see an immediate difference. Use compression garments straight afterwards too.

I get this and the one thing that sorts it is going for a run.
