Stylish summer trousers

Right then, stylish ladies of the interweb. I need some summer trousers that are comfortable enough for the school run and working at home (I am a freelancer) yet don't look frumpy. Cotton preferably. I am 5'5", size 12. Go!

It totally works. I wore a chunky gold necklace too from Primark. Would look even better with a white vest top underneath but toddler with sticky fingers = disaster zone.

I feel really, really nervous just looking at a picture of those white Jigsaw ones.

I've never given up wide legs (aside from jeans) - did they go out of fashion then?

lovingmatleave · 02/06/2014 23:07

sorry christinarossetti I think wide legs did go out of fashion, maybe a few years ago. I say this not because I am an expert in this area, but I soo loved wearing wide leg linen trousers in summer - they are so comfy and light - but I have hardly seen any for years (except maybe in M+S Classic Collection). That is why I was looking at this thread to see what I could get as I am hating wearing skinny jeans in hot weather.

But it seems like they may be coming back into fashion?? Is Grazia right? I'm confused. I really hope they are coming back. Hopefully I can miss the harem trend. I think they look great dressed the right way, but when I try them on they look crap and then I think I would need to buy a new jacket, shoes etc all to go with them.

I have bought the Next harems twice and returned them. I soooo want to like them, but I just can't find the right tops to wear them with. Yes, a strappy vest works, but how often is it warm enough? I just feel a numpty in them tbh.

I will probably grow to love them just as the trend moves on. Grin

Oh dear. But it's true what they say about hanging on to your clothes because they're bound to come back into fashion.

I am now AHEAD of the game!

Yes it will be bootleg jeans back next and I;ve thrown all mine out.

Lovingmatleave - Next have loads of wideleg linen trousers in, in lovely summery colours.

In fact they have great trousers at the mo - I have the hareem pants in black (I'm 12-14 and the size 12 are bang on) and also their navy cotton chinos, which they have in a few colours. I have to say though that the chinos are not flattering to everyone - if you object to visible pockets and fabric round the hips they might not be for you.

I find the Fat Face chinos a little more casual and forgiving, but not quite as smart.
