How to dress this down?

This was my wedding dress when I got married last year. I want to wear it again, for our first anniversary, but I am slightly concerned it's a bit bridal. It's actually not as light as the picture suggests, there is a bit of a yellow tone to it, I'd say it was more buttermilk in colour. I wore it with a fuschia lace shrug on the day.

Originally I wanted to dye it but after asking Arts and crafts people, that looks like it might not be possible (due to the fabric unfortunately it wouldnt be a case of throwing it in the machine with some dylon as I had hoped!)

So, I'm after suggestions on how to dress it down a little, so it doesn't look like a wedding dress?

Please help, I'm useless at this and really don't want my lovely dress languishing in the wardrobe forevermore!

It's beautiful. Cardigan and/or belt and/or flats?

bishboschone · 15/05/2014 14:02

to add . can you remove the bow or tuck it under a belt ? I don't see why you cant wash it ? what's it made of ? the thread may not take but I'm not sure that woukd matter ?

Denim jacket and ballet flats or tan wedge sandals would make it fine for 'everyday' imo. I have worn V of H dresses like that before.

Where are you wearing it to? Does it need to be out to dinner dressed down or school run dressed down?

Keep thecolour as it is (you might damage it) but of course you can jazz it up -being a neutral colour you can add what you like. SOme good suggestions on this thread.

No one will think it bridey -

Lovely dress. I would remove the bow if possible then add a belt, cardi and wedges in any colour you choose. I would choose red as it's my favourite colour.

I forgot I posted this Blush

burnished silver I was thinking an "out to dinner" dress. I am usually a strictly jeans and top kind of girl but I love this dress so much and I think our wedding anniversary is the perfect opportunity to wear it again!

I love the idea of a wide belt and wedges, I like red but currently a large portion of my hair is bright pink so will most likely clash! Maybe turquoise? Would that work?

I'd love to wear it with denim jacket and flats too but I'm short and wide so don't want it to look frumpy...

Thanks for your help everyone!
