Crocs...

OK I am not far off 40, have a 3 yr old and a 9 mo old. My dd wears crocs, as do lots of kids and adults I know. Are Crocs for adults an absolute no-no?! For the last 2 summers I have thought about buying some...I am about to purchase some now...I would only wear them at home, or when out with kids. Certainly not out child free or on a grown up date! Are Corcs an ugly no-no??!!

I value comfort which crocs deliver!
Also take a look at the Sketchers Go Walk thread

hashtagwhatever · 15/05/2014 12:59

Personally I don't like them on adults.

Stripytop · 15/05/2014 13:02

I have a pair that I use as slippers. They are amazingly comfy but feel clammy without socks. I never wear them when I go out.

Ahem...

BadRoly · 15/05/2014 13:06

I wear mine around the house/garden, to the beach and if I'm popping to supermarket or similar. I don't find them 'that' comfy for walking any big distance in though.

nipersvest · 15/05/2014 13:06

yes, they are ugly, but in certain circumstances, they are really useful. i wear mine in the garden, camping, on the beach. tk maxx is the best place to get them, pretty cheap in there.

Nasturtium89 · 15/05/2014 13:32

They're amazing! I wouldn't be seen dead in public with them but for work they're amazing (standing up in a kitchen all day). If I wear normal shoes at work my feet are so sore at the end of the day, but with crocs they're fine! :) they make specialist chef crocs, but mine are just normal. My point is, they're designed to be super comfy and they're safe as non-slip!

ihearttc · 15/05/2014 13:44

There are actually some really lovely ones on the Crocs website...they are called Haurache or something like that. Im useless with links so can't show you Im afraid but look nothing like normal crocs.

LightastheBreeze · 15/05/2014 14:05

Ive got a pair for gardening, 2 pairs in our touring caravan, a furry lined pair for winter and a pair I take abroad for beach holidays. I find them very comfortable for leisure/beach etc but would never wear them for normal shopping trips/work or going out at home.

Bambinho · 15/05/2014 14:12

I practically live in Crocs Patricia strappy sandal wedges. Really comfortable and don't look like 'normal' Crocs at all. Would highly recommend them.

I live in these in the summer.

FauxFox · 15/05/2014 14:26

I wouldn't but if you must the mary-jane style ones don't make me recoil in horror so are probably best of the bad bunch.

Fenton · 15/05/2014 14:26

standard crocs are not for going out in public in.

The flipflops and the single strap sandals are fab. Not the most stylish but no worse than normal flipflops and 100x conifer as so springy.

Excuse the crappy name but these are so comfy I have to stop myself putting these on all the time www.crocs.co.uk/crocs-womens-really-sexi-flip-flop/14174,en_GB,pd.html?cid=6AT&cgid=women-footwear-flipflopsSandals

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 15/05/2014 14:29

I wouldn't be seen dead in normal crocs the clog type ones unless I worked back at the hospital again.

Fenton · 15/05/2014 14:32

just saying

Nocomet · 15/05/2014 14:39

DD2(13) won't let me out the house in them Grin

They are rare in public round here now. There used to be a lot more about and you could get away with them.

However, I have a very old pair of Sketchers that are like slippers (and more stylish than Go Walks to my eyes) so I chuck those on for school pick up.

paulapantsdown · 15/05/2014 16:25

Crocs should only be worn in public by those too young, too old or too ugly to have sex!

ouryve · 15/05/2014 16:29

I wear crocs around the house (v supportive for my unstable feet), on long car journeys and on the beach. Aesthetics aside, they're too clunky for any serious walking around and I can't stand the strap across my heel, so don't stay on my feet well enough.

carrie74 · 15/05/2014 16:37

It's a no from me. Fine for the kids (in fact I find them quite sweet on the children). My H has an old pair, but I'd rather he didn't. He also has a leather pair which are a lot nicer (don't look like crocs).

But what do I know? I wear Birkies.

WitchWay · 15/05/2014 17:21

I use Fitflops with toe posts as summer slippers & go out in them quite a bit as well. Easily washed in the sink if they get dirty. Hate Crocs - sorry Grin

Selks · 15/05/2014 17:23

Fine for camping/beach/in the garden; elsewhere, no.
