Need foundation - £££ no object

I am giving in to my aging skin and am about to spend a crap load of money on foundation. I have pale alabaster skin and I hate feeling sticky, oily or sweaty. And I lost my treaured Kryolan professional foundation on my last trip to the States.

Suggestions please! I actually work close to the Kryolan shop in Covent Garden but don't know if they cater to non-professional walk-ins. So I might need to get something commercial.

I'm tempted to try the liquid foundation now. Ivory looks pale enough for me < sheep > Blush

StampyIsMyBoyfriend · 15/05/2014 20:35

Colour matching!? Wow. >>>>Tiptoes off to postbox

Deathraystare · 15/05/2014 20:51

Armanai is lovely just tried it and it s going to be my next purchase.
Love Laura mercier silk creme too.

So, my neutraliser arrived - SO impressed with the quality, it was just over a tenner including postage and is the best green concealer I have ever used. I am going to email them and ask advice on foundation colour because if this is anything to go by the foundation will be fantastic!

Very pleased :)

Amethyst24 · 19/05/2014 15:48

Oooh. Am also currently auditioning foundations and will add this to the list.

ArtFine · 19/05/2014 16:08

I'm also looking for some too - going to check this out

ArtFine · 19/05/2014 16:13

Do any high street shops stock kryolan? John Lewis?

AntoinetteCosway · 19/05/2014 16:20

I don't think so-it's a theatre product and I've only ever seen it in pro stores (though as I said earlier, there's nothing to stop anyone shopping in those stores).

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/05/2014 16:26

I ordered through Extreme makeup - fantastic service.

StampyIsMyBoyfriend · 19/05/2014 21:04

Dame did you buy the stick?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/05/2014 21:24

No just the neutraliser.

Chantecaille oil free gel foundation is fab. £58 a pot. I have dry , quite clear skin, but it looks the 38 years old that I am. This foundation gives good coverage, stays looking perfect all day, and is a good colour match for my pale skin. I got it in space nk.

Hi OP - I would actually recommend MAC. They are the only foundation I have ever used that matched my SUPER pale skin without that annoying orange tint that you can get. Or looking chalky.

I can't recommend it enough. They will match you up with a foundation to suit you if you go in and ask them, and put it on you so you can see what it's like before you buy. You just tell them what sort of coverage you want, and what your skin type is.

Otherwise if money is really no object you could always try Laura Mercier. I can't afford it, but it looks amazing!

WillowMoo · 20/06/2014 11:40

Hello extreme makeup person, so op for hijacking Blush

Could you advise what would be the closest shade in the Ultra Fluid foundation to Mac NW13 / nw15 (v pale skinned) and could you recommend a powder to use with this to touch up during the day? also could you recommend a silvery base eyeshadow to use on special occasions? (something that stays put & doesn't crease?)

can you tell I'm excited, and breathe

Many thanks Flowers

I tried Laura Mercier and ended up giving it away.
I bought the one in the pot in the palest shade and it was too pale- unheard of for me. I am Porcelain in Bobbi Brown.
LM do another pale shade but it's very pink.
Her creme silk foundation is incredibly thick and I wouldn't want to wear it.

QuinnFabray · 20/06/2014 13:47

I'm going to throw my current favourite in, it's pretty bloody awesome, and I've tried a lot of foundations, including Kryolan, Clarins Everlasting, Revlon whipped creme and a tonne of others. It's the new Boots no.7 stay perfect superlight foundation. Very light and natural, good coverage and stays all day. Only problem is the lightest shade isn't that pale.

Lelivre · 20/06/2014 14:07

I'm tempted to try the Kryolan rec. I am an NC 15-20 pretty much in the middle. Any recommendation on shade would be appreciated.

fooogle · 28/07/2014 07:52

Hello folks, I stumbled into the kryolan shop yesterday, very exciting. I bought a kind of pan foundation/concealer thing in NW. Not sure what it is but came in a sample 4.95 size so am auditioning it today...

birdsandcheese · 28/07/2014 10:47

How did everyone go with Kryolan in the end?

BitOutOfPractice · 28/07/2014 10:48

I've just converted to Bare Minerals and I'm seriously impressed. Smooth, matte finish, lasts all day

fooogle · 29/07/2014 03:27

I enjoyed wearing the kryolan today, used it as a kind of concealer/tidy upper so didn't do a full face worth but I liked it and it lasted well. I'm now fancying getting a palette with 3 tones in so I can maybe mix colours. I find it hard to get a perfect match. I'm a mac nw20 or there abouts.
