I put on a lot of weight in 4 months due to stopping smoking, I'm noe trying to lose weight but I have the dilemma of having no summery clothes to fit. I don't want to spend a fortune as I'm hoping to lose weight, so as budget as possible.

I'm a tall, sized 14/16 hourglass, fair skinned and dark hair.

Please help as I'm sweating too much already in skinnies and v necked jumpers

Try H&M, dresses are good if you are losing weight as no waistline to worry about, layer with loose cardigan and leggings for now, lose the leggings once it gets really warm.

Are H&M dresses a decent length? Are there amy you'd recommend?

They really vary, there are loads on their website and one is recommended on AnyFucker's thread on here tonight which looks nice
I suggested H&M as they are not too pricey so you pick up things which fit now but you wont feel bad if you give them away once you lose weight again.
Perhaps order a whole load to be delivered and see what you think of them?

AnyFucker · 14/05/2014 23:12

Yep, H+M doing well at the moment for cheapy stuff just for this season.

Have you tried your local Facebook selling group? There are loads of clothes on ours as people go up and down sizes.

SuperFlyHigh · 15/05/2014 09:27

H&M definitely. however don't discount Primark etc and Peacocks.

CeliaFate · 15/05/2014 09:53

If you're worried about length, look at the tall section - Dorothy Perkins, Next, New Look and H&M all do tall dresses, they're more decent than the normal bum skimmers!

PinkSquash · 15/05/2014 22:43

Thanks for all the advice, it seems that H&M is doing blindingly this year, I'll have to head there and take a look.

I love Primark for skinnies and basic vests as they're cheap and last really well

I'm a similar shape and also tall and just bought this:

m.hm.com/gb/product/12325?article=12325-E#mediaType=FASHION_FRONT

And also a cowl neck maxi in Sainsburys. Both a suitably long, which can be an issue with maxi dresses and tall wearers.

Not fantastic quality or head turning fabulous but good cheap summer staples I think.

Never thought I'd say this but BHS has some good stuff in atm, including lovely cotton vests and tshirts in loads of different colours and styles, 2 for £10.

CeliaFate · 16/05/2014 10:42

Yes, BHS is surprisingly good for summer stuff. I kitted dd out last summer (she's a size 14 and v.tall) from mainly BHS.
