It's not going to turn me ginger is it. Not that there's anything wrong with red hair, in fact I love it, but that would be way too much of a change from the norm for me to deal with.

I think I am a natural mouse, but have been salon dyeing for years. A kind of light milk chocolately brown.

My first home colour is on, but it does look kind of lighter than I imagined. Should it? Is that usual? The box says it is a light golden brown. It looks much liter than that at the moment. Should I wash it off quickly and hope I have ruined myself? Or should I wait it out?

god knows... what colour were you to start? What have you put on it? Semi or permenant? It will look lighter probably as it's a bit foamy. It will probably look darker once you've washed it off. IME dye ends up darker than you expect, not lighter...

It will look weird mid-treatment , but I always find it comes out darker than on the pack.
I used Superdrug in a light coppery bronze, it's turned my hair coppery brown, not light but not ginger Grin

Wait till it's dry and in the words of Bart Simpson Prepare to be dazzled

No, to go ginger you would have to just chuck a blonde dye on before the pre lightener.

The finish will depend on the colour of your hair.. there should be a strand chart on the dye box which will tell you what colour you're likely to go.

You did do a patch test though?

It's a semi.

Weird the stuff seems to have gone a darker colour now.

This is WAY more stressful than a couple of hours with a colourist, drinking wine tea and reading magazines.

So. Hard to tell from the box and strand. Not sure I did it very well.

Right, it's time. Wish me luck...

I wouldn't worry.. semi permanent isn't that harsh.. good luck

bonzo77 · 12/05/2014 22:08

definitely no need to worry with a semi... if you hate it wash lots with head and shoulders and it'll be gone before long...

These is definitely a lot of copper in the colour. Definitely no way near as brown as on the box. Or maybe it's our crappy house lights shining through it.

But no greys roots. And it feels really nice and soft. Smile

Thanks for the handholding.
