Not a great haircut

Took dd (11) for a haircut yesterday, normal salon but different hairdresser as her normal one has left.

She has long hair, all one length to between shoulder blades. She washed her hair prior to going, so it was wet and parted in the correct place.

This morning she has brushed her hair and brought it over her shoulders and it is of differing lengths, by maybe an inch to an inch and a half.

What has gone wrong?

She doesn't want me to take her back as she doesn't want it cutting any shorter.
Do I take her back?
I suggested taking a picture and sending it to them to see what they say.

She has popped it in a ponytail for now but I will need to sort it one way or another.

sounds like the hairdresser may have sectioned it incorrectly, or cut the hair lifting it up from the head rather than what they call zero elevation. personally, i'd go back and get it straightened up, yes she'll loose a bit more length, but it needs to be straight. sympathies, i have a 12 yr old dd so know how they can be about their hair. i trim dd's myself and took a couple of inches off in the summer which she wasn't happy about but it needed a good trim to look healthier.
