Getting rid of unwanted makeup

Does anyone know if it's ok to swap / give away makeup on here or where I'd be able to do this? I've got some Lily Lolo I no longer want as I don't get on with it. Also have a terrible collection of lipsticks that don't suit me and have only been used once. Would people use second hand lipstick or do I need to put them in the bin? The waste distresses me a bit!

I think you can wipe things like lipstick with an alcohol wipe so they are fine for swapping.

Thanks that's good to know about the lipstick. I suppose I could try freecycle

Watching this with interest as I am in the same boat. We are moving soon to a new house and I can't take it all with me!

eBay it

PeppermintInfusion · 09/05/2014 15:53

I've seen people ebaying stuff saying,"used once/few times" etc for makeup

Macocious · 09/05/2014 15:53

I've stuck a couple of the more expensive bits on eBay. Ourmiracle are you interested in the lily lolo? What's your skin tone like? I've got samples of 3 of the pale colours
Lipsticks are a dark rose colour loreal one and an orangey bourjois crayon

I've sold quite a bit of make up on eBay that's only been used once or twice.

The brand names ie MAC tend to go for quite a bit.

foolssilver · 09/05/2014 16:58

I have sold some things on eBay and given some away on here, no one seemed to mind...

There's a charity called Give and Makeup that looks for makeup/toiletry donations, they then pass them on to Women's Aid and Refuge.

I wish id seen this earlier, I literally binned a old of stuff :(

foolssilver · 09/05/2014 19:12

Thanks Squoosh, that's good to know. Especially as I seem to make expensive mistakes. Nice to know it would be used.

Macocious · 09/05/2014 19:41

Yes I hadn't heard of that charity thanks. Will send some stuff there.
