Jacket or Cardi for wedding

VelmaD · 04/05/2014 19:20

I have a wedding on the next bank holiday weekend. Its mainly outside/in a barn so I need a cover up to go with my dress.

Dress is blue and cream pattern, with cream shoes and fascinator.

I have played with colours and definitely think cream is the colour to go with, but can't find anything.

Not sure whether to go for a cardi, shrug or jacket. Its a smart/casual garden party style wedding - dress is a tea style to the knee from Dorothy Perkins for 25 for style and price wise.

Anyone have any good links or ideas? Have tried local shops and even charity shops but to no avail. Dress is sleeveless so I need something.

It's hard to say without seeing the dress, might this work? What shoes and bag do you have planned?

Sorry, you did say about shoes Blush

Have you tried a pale-ish pink or yellow with the dress?

Im not sure that shape would suit me (apple belly, big boobs) and I wonder if id feel quite formal in it. Its the right colour though.

The dress is dark background with cream and blue birds on it in a busy pattern - any kind of colour just doesn't seem to work (tried all the shades of cardigans I have and I wear a lot!)

Im thinking id like a cream three quarters sleeved shrug or cardigan in a thickish jersey or drape material, im only 5ft 4 so it has to be shortish too.

(ive just gone for cream shoes instead of blue as felt the cream went better btw :-))

What about a cropped cashmere cardi? Would that be too warm for you? Boden have plenty but they do have full length sleeves & not sure if cream / ivory is still in stock.

I have a couple in other colours & am the same height as you & an apple shape. I have to size up but they go very well with dresses of all types.

Thanks guys. Showed the bride picture today of me in it all and she thinks a pashmina style wrap? Think I need to go shopping at the big centre without the kids for more choice!
