Quality swimwear

Just wondering which swimwear brands you rate? I've not bought a new costume for ages and I'm a bit at sea with it. Happy to spend a bit if it will last or go for cheap as chips for a year or two. Don't want to spend then it fade/ show through.
Quite fancy a tankini, perhaps with shorts rather than an all in one. It will be for swimming in rather than lazing around the pool so it needs to stay in position.

I rate Speedo highly - good quality and made for swimming.
I had a bright red tankini from them some years ago that I wore to death.

I am now on the lookout for the perfect cossie for the large of nork who want to actually swim. Not easy.

I used to love my Speedo costume when I was 11...Where do you buy from now?

Good old Bravissimo
I am eyeing up this one
Or this one?

Problem is, they all look a bit 'middle-aged' to me. I am middle-aged (48) but don't want to look it, even though the mutton-dressed-as-lamb is worse when you are a 34G Grin

Or is all this too sporty for you?
Bravissimo has loads of swim wear on its site.

YoungJoseph · 04/05/2014 15:39

I am middle aged too (45) but even in my new MN bras I am only a 28D. Not sure Bravissimo is for me. However, not thought of using lingerie shops for swimwear.

Have you had a look at Figleaves?

Happy hunting Smile

Be careful with short style shaped bottoms. I've ordered some from Boden with a stripy tankini top & they do me no favours. I'm swapping them for ordinary bottoms.

What's Boden quality like? If I went for a tankini I'd probably go for the classic bikini brief style bottoms. I buy those sorts of knickers and have been happy with them. Just don't want them to bag at the back (or worse at the front).

I haven't worn it yet but it seems quite substantail. Bit pricey though.

For more retro styles try www. forluna.co.uk they are lovely...

Also, I think ASOS have big discounts off swimwear this bank holiday.

Esther Williams. On the forluna website mentioned up thread. Flattering retro shape and great quality. You can actually swim in them too!
