I've heard you style and beauty posters are geniuses when it comes to bra sizing, so I'm hoping you can help me out.

my actual measurements are

under boobs 43 and a half inches

over boobs 43 inches

what size should I be wearing?

Has the over boob measurement been done leaning forward?

Contraryish · 02/05/2014 11:14

I'm no expert, but those measurements don't look right to me. They suggest your under boob is half an inch bigger than your boobs!

poorbuthappy · 02/05/2014 11:15

Ummm yes I think your measurements are slightly off!
Under boobs measurement without bra on. Reasonably tight tape.
Lean forward 90 degrees is your boobs dangle then measure around your nipples. Should be larger around nipples than under boob!

EyelinerQueen · 02/05/2014 11:16

Huh?!

That would mean your actual boobs are smaller than your underboob Confused

HeartShapedBox · 02/05/2014 11:30

I didn't realise I had to lean forward for the over boob measurement Grin

Perhaps the OP took the words "over boobs" to mean "above boobs" rather than round them?

HeartShapedBox · 02/05/2014 11:33

46 and a half inches

here is the guideline for measuring as per the MN guru's

Post your measurements here and hopefully one of the guru's will be along in a minute to give you more guidance with the result

believe in the measure......you may be surprised but the end bra result - you will not be disappointed Smile

HeartShapedBox · 02/05/2014 11:58

thanks for the link, Furball Smile

going by that, I should be a 44 or a 42 D ?

is that right?

HeartShapedBox · 02/05/2014 15:35

just a wee bump?

Probably 42C to start as the more, er, squishy of torso tend to need a smaller back size. If you've been wearing badly-sized bras for some time you might find some breast tissue has ended up outside the cups.
When you try on a bra, scoop all the nearby flesh into the cup. After a while it'll stay where it should beGrin.
You might also find a good scoop bumps you up a cup size or two.

thanks, I'll try that size Smile .

I've been a 38a for years but I've recently put on a lot of weight since getting the contraceptive implant.

Im currently wearing 40 c which is too small at the back but too big in the cup- so I'm a bit Confused at the thought of a D cup

If you think it's too small in the band, try in on back to front and see how it is then.

The cups have a big habit of nicking the band. - so if you try it on back to front you can just try the band on it's own without cups.

  • It should be firmly tight so it supports and does the work. But obviously not uncomfortably so. The band should be doing the support work, not the straps Smile
Furball · 02/05/2014 16:29

and when you do try it on the right way round, lean forward and scoop with your hands any flesh from under and around your armpits. It's amazing what actually should be upfront!

Furball · 02/05/2014 16:29

meant scoop them into the cups

HeartShapedBox · 02/05/2014 17:22

I'll get scooping Wink Grin

the 40 band is deffo too small, it leaves deep red gouges in my flesh Sad
