Louis Vuitton handbag questions

Hoping there will be some LV experts on mumsnet who can help me.

Years ago (while living in America) I purchased a Louis Vuitton handbag from a retailer that was called e-luxury or some variation of this. A quick google seems to result that this site is no longer going (I probably made this purchase BEFORE 2004) and lots of forums saying that Louis Vuitton actually owned this online retailer & that their products are legitimate bags. If memory serves me rightly I paid $460 for this bag (it is one of the cylinder shape LV brown print bags)

Well, fast forward to now. It has been sitting in its dust cover for the best part of a decade and I'd like to sell it to fund my baby wearing and cloth nappy addiction. It is far too small to be of any use to me now as it really hasn't ever been due to the odd shape.

My question is this - how can I prove it is real in order to get a fair price for it? I went to photograph it and was surprised to see the gold on the zip is chipped off slightly. I mean this bag is over 10 years old so wear & tear is to be expected.

I guess my next question would be - how much could I reasonably expect to get for it? (Pictures attached!)

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Thanks Easter, however that site charges as much as my bag is probably worth to authenticate it!!

There's another site, don't recall the name, my handbag something? They can help with authenticating bags.

Purse forum also have a verification thread I think.

CrispyCrochet · 01/05/2014 15:44

Ooooo thank the lord I've just found the date code! I have more hope that it is authentic now. I'm still a bit concerned about the chipped zipper and such but I was getting worried I couldn't find any sort of code printed in the bag but it is just very well hidden!

E luxury was powered by LVMH the group that owns LV,so yours is authentic, This bag is called the papillon, and its a very popular LV bag,so you will get a good resale price,

Another vote for authentication on the purse forum. You post specific photos and they confirm either way.

CrispyCrochet · 02/05/2014 16:58

Santamaria any idea what I can expect to get for it. I think it's the papillon 26. I checked on eBay to see what they were going for but couldn't find many other 26s.

Will check out the purse forum. Thanks.

Why not try Covetique and Vestaire Collective - if you email pics they will give you a price. You are under no obligation to sell through them but if you do they take around 50%. I would use their valuation as your aim and list it on ebay and Asos marketplace. Asos may take longer to sell but you may get a better price. LV stuff is very popular so I don't think you'll have a problem selling it.

another second hand selling site is www.naughtipidginsnest.com/
