dress

Have bought this, expecting it to not be great. It's lovely.

I know we are not loving maxi dresses, but could this be excused? With a pair of wedges and delicate necklace for summer.

Nay from me, sorry.

PeppermintInfusion · 01/05/2014 11:28

I'm all for maxis. On the model the colour looks a bit wishy washy and a bit like a nightie as a result. Think you would need to be reasonably tan and add some colour. If you suit neutrals it would work, looks floaty and light for a summer holiday.

Onesleeptillwembley · 01/05/2014 11:36

I'm a hater of maxi dresses, unless you're stick thin, so you don't look square, it's not gaudy or nylon. This doesn't tick any of my 'bad' boxes, but boy, that's one ugly dress (sorry).

Onesleeptillwembley · 01/05/2014 11:37

Posted too soon - it doesn't seem to know what it is. Frilly, long, straight, buttoned blouson. Too much, and none of it nice.

EyelinerQueen · 01/05/2014 11:40

Oh nay. Hell nay.

It's a raggedy victorian nightie and the colour is foul.

CockBollocks · 01/05/2014 11:44

I'm a cool, muted summer on my colour analysis, so the colour is fine i think (though I would have preferred the pink)

Its just very pretty in the flesh. It also fits in the right places and is long enough (i'm 5'10" so struggle with length)

OP posts:
WaitMonkey · 01/05/2014 11:44

Sorry, I think it's horrible. But if you like it, get it.

Flofloflo · 01/05/2014 11:54

I think on the right person it would look stunning. I actually really like it on the asos model, despite her being pale.
Would look hideous on me by the way!

HappyHippyChick · 01/05/2014 11:59

I'm clearly a lone voice, but I like it...

Flofloflo · 01/05/2014 12:02

You're not happy hippy, I like it too!
Am guessing by your name, you would also look fab in it???

Pabboo · 01/05/2014 12:05

I do like it but I think you would have to have a very certain bohemian type of look to carry it off. And be very slender.

AgathaF · 01/05/2014 12:23

I like it too. I wouldn't wear that colour personally but I know it would suit lots of people.

Amethyst24 · 01/05/2014 12:28

I'm finding it hard to see past how utterly dreadful it would look on me.

CockBollocks · 01/05/2014 12:44

Size 12 on 5'10" slender enough? Does it have to be 8 slender!

OP posts:
Pabboo · 01/05/2014 12:47

Yeah, I think that is slender enough - esp as you are nice a tall.
As long as you aren't overly well endowed - I think big boobs might make it a bit "tenty".
When does it arrive?

dexter73 · 01/05/2014 13:07

I think it is really nice. I love maxi dresses!

Aster · 01/05/2014 13:21

Yay.

CockBollocks · 01/05/2014 13:38

Already here, much prettier in the flesh. Maybe I will keep and use as a lovely nightie!!!!! Grin

OP posts:
burnishedsilver · 01/05/2014 13:49

You are the best judge of how it looks. We cant see how it looks on. You must have reservations though or you wouldnt have asked. You would have just happily hung it in the wardrobe.

Twinklestein · 01/05/2014 14:16

It looks a bit like the Turin shroud.

EasterSundaySimmons · 01/05/2014 15:32

I like it.

Tall and slender, it's Edwardian/romantic/bohemian all rolled into one!

I'm a bit old now but I would have worn this when younger.

EasterSundaySimmons · 01/05/2014 15:32

Turin shroud made me chuckle!

WitchWay · 01/05/2014 16:16

I like maxi dresses but that is rather like a nightie, sorry.

cardamomginger · 01/05/2014 16:26

Nay. But that's in part because I can't see how it could look good on anyone. If it DOES in face look good on you, then keep it.

I'd be wanting to toughen it up (sorry to use that generally hated expression!) it take the frill and delicacy out of it and steer it away from looking like a nightie.

KoalaDownUnder · 01/05/2014 16:26

Well, I'm 5'10", size 10, 32D boobs (but haven't had a bra intervention yet, so perhaps not! ;)), and I'd wear it. It looks like something I'd get lots of use out of in summer, actually!

(I didn't know that maxi dress hate was a mumsnet thing...I love me a maxi Blush)
