Chinos

I know there have been lots of chino threads.
I am looking for a really decent pair that don't have tapered legs and offer a more relaxed fit.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Was possibly thinking Lands end.

Chinos. Lands End.

Only one thing springs to mind, old age pensioners!

Why chinos? They are so frumpy.

PrimalLass · 01/05/2014 11:38

H&M. Not frumpy if they are the right style.

PrimalLass · 01/05/2014 11:39

I have multiple pairs of these.

Oops, I didn't see the 'not tapered leg' bit. Then I'm with EasterSundaySimmons.

I had this dilemma, tried next, m&s, gap, river island, top shop, tommy hillfiger, you name it, I tried them. I'm 5ft 4 standard shape (ie not apple, pear etc) size 10. I actually found a pair in Forever 21. Material isn't great quality but they were £15 and a perfect cut for me and sit on the waist or just below (which is great for my muffin top)

I like your H & M ones. They are not what envisage chinos as, though!

I'm old and this is what chinos look like in my book...

Frumpsville!

How long in the leg are those H&M ones? Can't find any info on inseam on their size guide Confused

TereseaGreen · 01/05/2014 17:45

I have some stone coloured superdry sweet chinos. www.superdry.com/womens/chinos/details/31232/sweet-chino They no longer have the stone colour but do have the pink and green. They are quite a relaxed, low fit but really comfortable and have washed well. I also bought them brand new on ebay for £11.99 because I am tight.

SoFetch · 01/05/2014 17:48

Easter I really like those, and I'm 22!

BikeRunSki · 01/05/2014 17:50

I like Sainsbury's chinos, they are not as skinny as some.

jan2014 · 01/05/2014 17:54

i love m chinos in the summer. got them from dorothy perkins 2 summers ago, still great. they sit on my hips and have a tapered leg and I style them with a white top.

Repunsal · 01/05/2014 22:02

Frumpy eh hmmmm. Well that pic of Easters is definitely not what I had in mind!
Why chinos you ask? I want some summer trousers in a lighter colour/fabric and thought as linen trousers which I may add are also deemed frumpy by some on here crease badly chinos would fit the bill.
I am not a fan of skinny/tapered fit as I don't have the legs for them which is why I would prefer the relaxed shape.
I am no fashion victim but certaintly no frumpster.

I may have got chinos confused with Pegs!

I've not seen anyone wearing pegs in over 25 years and they were pale coloured trousers like the ones I pictured above.

SconeRhymesWithGone · 01/05/2014 22:18

That's an old picture from Lands End. But those do have tapered legs. Grin

MissBlake · 01/05/2014 22:44

I have a navy primark pair, tapered leg and turned up. Love them they look more expensive than they are imo.

PrimalLass · 04/05/2014 14:31

I bought a pair from Joules that have straighter legs. I do feel frumpy in them though.

TheGruffalo2 · 04/05/2014 16:18

If not chinos what sort of trousers can those of us who can't get away with skinnies, leggings or 3/4 lengths wear in the warm summer? I need something neat for my gamine style, but my huge calves cause slim-leg and skinnies to bunch, my legs look appalling in leggings and I am the wrong height/size to wear anything but full length trousers.

Also I just feel awful in linen (the crumpled-ness of them is more than I, personally, can cope with).

Repunsal · 04/05/2014 18:57

Bloody nightmare isn't it Graffalo! Went shopping today and had a look but everywhere I went all the trousers were the same with skinny or tapered legs. I am actually pretty slim and have a small waist but think the problem is my hourglass shape where the waist bands were too loose the legs were too snug and looked awful sooo frustrating grrrr

What's the difference between chinos and khakis? Genuine question as I just purchased the latter from Gap!

SwedishEdith · 04/05/2014 21:07

The name, I guess. Probably just a rebranding exercise. I remember Levi's Cotton Dockers - presume they were just chinos as well

carlywurly · 04/05/2014 22:46

I love my gap broken in khakis - chinos in all but name Smile
