I'm thinking of having my almost waist length hair cut to a bob, but I'm scared, can anyone give me some encouragement? I've been growing it long for a long time but I've just thought that it might not be suiting me. Also starting to think that I'd save a fortune on shampoo and conditioner!

No!!!!!

Mine is waist length, and I have got to this stage too often then had it cut to a bob (which suits me),but regretted it.

Think loooonnggg and hard.

If you still want to in 3 months, then go for it.

Perhaps experiment with styles/colour instead?

And time with drying..... I've just had my long hair cut in a bob again.

Each time I've had it cut I've gone with the attitude 'it'll grow again if I don't like it'. It would obviously take a long time to grow it all back but if you don't like it it really won't take long to grow to your shoulders so you can have it up again if you miss being able to put it up.

Sorry-I just saw that I'm meant to be encouraging you to have it cut Blush

Hmm. Maybe I do need to consider it some more. I'll sleep on it before making an appointment, thanks!

My DD had hair down to her waistband - she had it cut to elbow length which did look alot neater but I was Sad at the loss of her hair (though to anyone else looking she had long hair still)
When she started Yr 7 she had a bra length cut. It does grow back quickly but looking at her, I think waist-length to bob would be a shock to the system.

Most hairdressers advice go shorter in stages.

I went from mid-back to bob. Personally I think I look younger, and my hair looks twice as thick (and I'm not seeing new split ends every bloody week).

I took the view of PastaandCheese - it wouldn't take long to grow to shoulder length if I didn't like it. Maybe try a shoulder-skimming bob to start with?
