Smart wedding- dress problem, please help I'm clueless.

I'm going to the evening do of quite a swanky wedding next week. I got a bargain at tkmax (or so I thought) a navy silk dress. It looks great at the top, the colour and neck line suit me and I look almost presentable.
Problem is it's way too short for a 46 year old with nobly knees.
It's hem is diagonally cut with the lining stopping just below nicker line and only transparent floaty silk hiding my modesty.
What can I do? Can I wear silk trousers with it? Are smart leggings ok for a wedding? And what colour would work, are you allowed to wear black with navy?
Smart weddings are not my natural habitat so any advise would be most welcome.

I'm sorry I can't link to it as it's no longer on the site, I bought it a few weeks ago.

Will I have to give up and go and buy something else? Will the indecent dress languish in my wardrobe? Or will a kind fashion fairy come and help this clueless mortal?

can you wear a long skirt in a contrasting colour underneath? A silver silk or silver sequined skirt so you get that interesting colour/texture contrast whilst preserving your modesty!

SC could you take a photo of it on a hanger and upload it to your profile or a hosting site?

I'll try to photo it tomorrow, thanks for the interest. I tried with a long black silky skirt but it looked a bit witch like.
