Longline stretchy tops please

Anybody found any of these recently? I am 13 weeks pregnant and not ready for voluminous maternity tops but really need something to cover my jeans waistline and preferably further again. I saw a lovely one on the Isabella Oliver site but it's quite dear and not available in the size/colour I want.

By 'tops' I mean all kinds of tops: short sleeved, long sleeved, and sweaters/cardigans welcome too. Preferably not too wintery. Am I asking the impossible? TIA.

I got some from good old Primani, four quid each I think and did the trick. They were vests and I wore thin cardies in normal sizing over the top. Lived in them I did! They did have longline tops in H & M too a while back.

JenJoWilson · 29/04/2014 11:57

Side note: Topshop maternity jeans are actually awesome :)

ShellSings · 29/04/2014 12:01

I live in long vest tops and long cardies as I'm tall so it ensures no gaps when I move about and also slightly disguises my apple shape!

I recommend New Look. I wear their bodycon "dresses" as long tops(!) and also their long length tops (which are about 2in shorter than the dresses!!!)

Gap are great for long cardis too but I only ever get mine in the outlet centre as I'm stingy!

Greenstone · 29/04/2014 12:08

Thank you! I have some ASOS maternity jeans lined up but have heard really good things about the Topshop ones too. I'm currently wearing my own jeans with a little waist extender belt thingy for comfort.

Thanks for the Primark rec. I think I have the ones you're talking about, I got them last pregnancy and wore them while breastfeeding too. They are great.

What I'm really after, I think (only clarifying my criteria now as I type) is the following. Sleeved tops or sweaters that are:

-Longline

  • Long sleeved or 3/4 length sleeved
  • Crew neck, boat neck, or envelope neck

So far, I've bought this:
JoJo Maman Bebe

but it'll probably be a bit roomy yet. I just don't know what to wear for the summer! I am a cold creature and I live in Ireland.

Shell, that's great, thank you. Would you have any links for the New Look stuff?

These are amazing, thick quality cotton stretch.

Oh thank you Fiscal, those look really great and I would never have thought of Hush. Wish they did a navy one but will prob get the black. :)

Longline vests at matalan - £4 each. I found asda maternity vests to be ok and not too tent-like.

Pregnantagain7 · 29/04/2014 16:35

Haha its curtains was just about to say exactly the same got a nice black vest for £4 yesterday they had loads of colours I am wearing it today with a long black h and m cardi.

I'm 16 weeks pregnant and is covering the bump nicely!

MissBlake · 29/04/2014 17:01

Agree matalan is good. I have lots of plain tees and vest tops from there and they seem to be much longer than those from other places which I find to be almost cropped length. Also h&m do cheap 100% cotton tees, long and short sleeves which was well.

MissBlake · 29/04/2014 17:01

*wash well.

Greenstone · 29/04/2014 17:20

Thank you for the suggestions folks. The Matalan long vests look brilliant, such good value.
Bit awkward because I am in Ireland: Matalan and Asda don't deliver here, and while H&M stores are here, there's none where I live and H&M don't deliver here either Angry.

I'm still after sweaters/longer sleeved tops. I love the look of this Me&Em top] but it's not in in the blue colour I want :( They seem to be out of quite a bit of stock.

Not hard to please, am I?!

Sainsburys have got lots of this kind of topSmile

Greenstone · 29/04/2014 20:44

Sadly no Sainsburys in Ireland either! Maybe I need to book a dedicated shopping trip Wink

I invested in quite a few of the Isabella Oliver ones and I got so much wear out of them. They were good on the tummy after baby and while not the easiest for breastfeeding it was possible. There are plenty on ebay so maybe keep your eyes peeled for that particular one you're after.

I hear good things about Sainsburys clothing on here but there are no big ones in my part of town.

Greenstone · 07/05/2014 09:12

Hi, just bumping again in case anybody has any more ideas where I can get these kinds of tops!

Of the tops I linked to above, the JoJo Maman Bebe isn't much good, too loose and too big and not long enough for my liking. I'd really love the Me&Em top but I'll have to wait til it comes back in in the blue colour. And no sign of the Isabella Oliver top I want in the right colour or size either on the site or on ebay :(

I must have trawled every shop online at this stage but I don't think what I want exists!

I've lived in my h&m long line vests and I'm 39 weeks now. they have wide vest straps.

I'm quite short (5' 3) but they easily go down to my knees if I pull!

primark are good for skinny strap vests and are VERY cheap!

marriednotdead · 07/05/2014 09:26

No direct links for you but the key word I use when shopping for these kind of tops is 'tunic'- I like everything hip to mid thigh length too!

Christelle2207 · 07/05/2014 09:26

Another vote for H&M

Greenstone · 07/05/2014 09:32

Thanks so much for the replies.
As above, H&M, Sainsburys, Asda and Matalan are all out for me due to location/non-delivery to Ireland, otherwise I would be stocking up! I have a couple of the Primark vests but really after stuff with a sleeve that I can wear as my top layer through the chilly (I'm guessing) summer.

married, yep, I've tried this and still not much luck, the only thing I found that may potentially work was a Topshop tunic which is currently winging its way to me. Bit of a wintry colour though (burgundy) and doesn't look too stretchy.

Sorry, I know I'm being whingy and ungrateful, I really do appreciate all the suggestions! I probably need to step away from trying to find nice clothes and just accept it will be hagsville for the next couple of months until the proper maternity stuff fits.

Dunnes do cheap longline vests as well.

Greenstone · 07/05/2014 09:40

Thanks tobias. That's brilliant, I'll probably pick some up. Still after stuff with a sleeve though!
