Waterproof mascara? And gentle remover?

Any recommendations for a waterproof mascara and a gentle remover please. Rarely wear eye makeup as mascara always smudges under my eyes even though I only wear it on my top lashes. Removing it tends to sting and irritate. Big night out soon with some very glam ladies and I need/want to wear eye makeup.

I bought a standard number 7 boots waterproof mascara for a funeral recently because I knew I was going to cry, and it's fine. I don't have particularly sensitive eyes, but now I wear it every day and I quite like it. For remover, I have the chamomile 'cake' from the body shop, it is a solid paste and it melts on the skin, around the eye area, and is very gentle. I would recommend both, but then I'm no expert and I don't like spending a fortune on products, so I usually stick with pretty basic stuff.

Micellar water is excellent and very gentle.

Waterproof mascara is oil-based (that's why it doesn't dissolve in water) so oil-based remover is best. Superdrug 99p solid coconut oil is ideal and lasts ages - dip a cotton wool pad into hand-hot water, rub into the tub of coconut oil until it melts onto the pad.

I have the same problem and always end up with mascara half way down my cheeks by the evening. Not many work for me although I have a Revlon one which is pretty ok. Coconut oil gets all make up off quickly and easily I rub onto my skin and eyes then wipe off with hot flannel)
