searching for a good sitting top

I'm looking for a strappy vest/ cami top that's ideally £5 or under, need a few in white and some in black.
The problem is I have 34 inch chest (that won't squash down!) and a 24 inch waist. If it fits over my boobs it's really baggy around my middle and I end up with no shape. If it fits my middle then the top looks......only fit for the bedroom.
I'd also like adjustable straps! but I can manage if we can't find that.
Topshop, h&m, new look and tesco are out - I've tried them on in store and none have fitted well.
does anyone know where I can get some?

Have you tried primark? I've got a couple from there that I wear under various tops, I'm big on top too and some of theirs are v stretchy but fit well round my waist, and they have adjustable straps!

I clicked on the thread wondering if you were going to an interview where you'd be sitting down Confused

Primark do longline stretchy strappy camis with adjustable straps? I think if you want a tight top, with your proportions it will look fairly, er, inviting even if it's high cut. Is it to wear under sheerish tops? I have much less of a curvy figure but wouldn't wear a tight vest top in the daytime on its own. There are plenty of lovely loose camis in the shops atm, both plain and patterned - try one of them instead? The swing style. I find them v flattering.

I don't want too close fitting but I like to wear them with gypsy skirts so if they're to loose I have no shape, so fairly close fitting but not like a second skin.
Will try primark - do they have size guides anywhere?

I've looked into cami tops but they seem to be more expensive than vest tops. They wouldn't go with my skirts but I like the look with skinny Jeans.

What do you mean by 'gypsy skirts'? Link? Surely a cotton broderie Anglaise type cami would be nice with the kind of thing I have in my head. Tight vest and flowing skirt sounds a bit dated tbh.

JokersGiggle · 28/04/2014 21:38

It is dated but everyone compliments me on it. I think i'm too short to pull off multiple loose layers.

Ok I've tried primark and had the same problem as other places - if it fits my waist i'm bursting out up top, or if it fits my chest I have no waist definition at all.
Any other places?

OP I have some vests from Republic which fit my large-boobs-small-waist frame well. They aren't skintight but do show waist definition.

JokersGiggle · 04/05/2014 09:12

Thanks I'll try there asap Smile

M&S are good, but probably more than £5.

What about pepper berry?
