Make-up makeover advice needed - turn 50 soon!

In a couple of weeks time I will be 50 and have realised that somehow over the years my make-up routine has fallen apart. Like everyone, pre-children I had lots more money and time to spend (when I was younger and least needed it!) and although I have clawed some time back for myself and now have some money again, I have lost track of what I should/could be doing with my skin. Sooooo, which brands would you recommend if I wanted to have a make-over and buy some new stuff - and what should I buy?

I used to use a lot of Clinique and Chanel Vitalumiere foundation, for example, but downgraded to Bourjois foundation and No 7 for most other stuff. I can spend money so recommendations for - dunno - MAC, Bobbi Brown, Benefit, others - most welcome! Happy to have ideas for skincare and make-up!

We are the same age!

I like Bobbi Brown and Mac. I've recently been using Smashbox. My skin can be sensitive, so I'm careful about what I use.

It may be worthwhile going to some of the beauty counters and having a mini makeover. I've found Bobbi Brown and Smashbox to be good for this. It also depends on which store, I've found that some are more helpful than others.

Some of the 'cheap' ranges are very good nowadays and you may find them to be just as good as some of the more expensive stuff.

Due to my sensitive skin, I very careful with skin care. I'm currently using Liz Earle cleanse and polish and Elemis pro collagen marine cream as my moisturiser. However there is some really good inexpensive stuff out there.

Skin type and personal preference will play a large part of what you want to use.

Thanks both, yes I am leaning towards Bobbi Brown and am certainly going to have a mini makeover done somewhere, will check where there is a concession. Could do central London but suspect they would be the busiest of all possibilities.

Smashbox is a name I have heard but know little about, will check it out as well.
