The ultimate white vest

I am due back to work after maternity leave soon and am auditing my wardrobe (this may not be my only post!). I have a few pretty cardis that I intend to wear but I need decent vests to wear underneath them. Some of the cardigans look better done up, and some look better undone so I need vests which is office suitable (legal professional but edging towards smart casual rather on a day to day basis rather than suited and booted). I need at least one plain white vest so it needs to not be see through, not be ribbed (because I think that's too casual a look) and ideally have little or no embellishment around the top. A bit of ruching, a few tucks or a ribbon trim would be ok but I don't really want anything embroidered. I'm after one white, one black and one navy in my attempt to create a capsule wardrobe rather than a load of random stuff which I've bought because I like but doesn't really match Oh, and I don't want it to be too short, I've been wearing long cheapo H&M vests under everything in order to bf and I'm not keen on having things flapping around my belly unchecked!

I'm happy to order online or go Into a Real Clothes Shop (not something I do often with 3 kids).

Any failsafe recommendations please?

Interested because I am also in need of similar. Jigsaw used to do good ones but don't know if that's still the case and also probably quite expensive. I've got two hours this week when I can get to the shops in central London so need to think ahead.

I love matalan ones - they're long (ideal for me) and come in a range of colours including white black and navy - £4 each Smile

How blessed are you in the boob department? Grin. I really like the Bravissimo vests with the fitted bra in them. They're really quite thick material, they have a great range of colours and wash really well. I'm wearing mine a lot at the moment with a cardigan over them for work. I believe M&S do a good version of them too.

H&M do good cheap ones for layering, but I wouldn't wear them to work or to be 'on show' as it were. The White Company and Hobbs usually do thick ones, but they are expensive.

I like GAP vests.

There are some nice ones in Phase 8.
