work clothes ideas please?

Has anyone got any ideas for work clothes?

I'm a PA/Legal Secretary but also meet clients on a regular basis. Generally at work I tend to wear dresses right now (trousers I can find hard as I've got long body and legs but they don't seem to fit well around crutch and I'm 5 ft 5 so sometimes they're too long, also around a 12 but curvy.

I wear dresses with leggings but am conscious sometimes of being too casual maybe?

I wore a nice Whistles tan jumper (man made) the other day which I like now, I do have the Whistles black tube knee length skirt but worry it's too short sometimes for work (I get looks off the men sometimes at my legs…).

I did get a really nice wrap jersey stretch Monsoon dress in the sale the other week (it's sort of royal and blue and black) so would think things along that line would work

any other ideas please? thanks!

Lovely dress super

There's a good thread running in S&B on workwear, lots of ideas on there.

I think leggings with dresses are too casual for the work you describe.

Dress, tights, court shoes, suit jacket & discretevsilver jewellery.

Knee length skirt suit & shirt, court shoes & tights.

Shift dress & jacket

Have a look at Next online to see how they have styled their workwear to give you ideas to copy.

I wear:

Grey trousers with matching waistcoat and coloured shirt underneath

Dresses(black, grey) with shirt underneath

Lots of next dresses

mirpuppet - its a small SW London family solicitors and my colleague is even more casual than me!

Suits would be too much and I feel I need to strike a balance between being approachable and smart.

I do like some of the Warehouse dresses (workwear) range.

Is this nice? I like it.

I also love the Monsoon dress I got and linked to - it has variations but wonder if it's too safe. the one I got I wear a dark cami under it so to not show cleavage.

The Next dresses in the directory are SOOOO much better than in store (though mine's a fairly small store).

will definitely take a look later.

Come on to the thread about Belinda's blog. V good.

The Monsoon dress looks v work appropriate, but I don't think leggings are. Then again, I've been talking about shorts on the other thread!

I wear the Whistles tube skirts to work a lot, but usually with opaques so less good at this time of year. Have just bought this good value dress and this skirt but they might feel too 'dressy' for what you're after.

This looks nice and is probably longer than the Whistles one. Also I have a couple of the midi Whistles ones and they are great.

TK Maxx is good for work dresses. Wear with contrasting cardigans. Black and white dress with red cardigan. Navy print dress with navy cardie. Smart but approachable.
