"Practical" Girl's sandals

Can anyone suggest where I can buy "practical" girls sandals for 8 year old DD (size 2)? Everything I've seen so far seems very flimsy and "pretty" - can't see anything that she could go for country walks in/climb trees/get muddy!?

Birkenstock Rio sandals - DD loves these, has had quite a few pairs.

I've just bought some of these for my daughter, also nearly 8 but just a size 12! Not seen them in the flesh but they look pretty rugged. There were also some in the Millets sale that looked nice too!

Check our lands end. Last year dd1 had the action sandals. This year she's chosen Mary Jane trekker shoes. We go on long walks all the time as have two dogs including a large black Labrador. The action sandals never rubbed. She has Birkenstock rio as well and they need a lot of wearing in as they rubbed a lot. She had to wear socks with them for ages.

Also check out sports direct for sandals very similar to the lands end action ones.

Dd1 is 8 and a size 1.5

saltwater are good. waterproof and practical here although not as chunky as some of the others you've linked too - they are pretty as well as practical (although not in the mud ). I think they're cheaper than this elsewhere - maybe Ebay

My dd age 9 has Keen's every year - they are fantastic! www.littletrekkers.co.uk/shop/index.php/flypage/13647/591ee12d7b9d8c046d403cae14a1f324/description/4569

I second the Land's End action Mary Jane shoes and the Keens. Both my girls 4 and 8 have these and they are brilliant.

Timberland rock skippers.

Dd has had them every year since she was two. She's a size adult 3 now. She can climb a tree in them and go to the beach as they are waterproof too.

I usually get them from ebay.

I always buy keen sandals. Closed toe, pretty colours, look lovely with dresses, can walk in them all day and can wear them in water. What's not to like :)
