Well someone had to do it....

OP posts:
Stropperella · 08/05/2014 19:44

Lalsy, my dd is also a hoarder. She even describes herself as such and worries that she may end up an extreme hoarder when older. She keeps stuff and never uses it. No advice, sorry.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 08/05/2014 19:56

I aspire to the top picture, Rudy. Sad

DD1 is also a hoarder like her father...

Auriga · 08/05/2014 20:33

How about these?

Sour Crepes
CremolaDItalia · 08/05/2014 20:43

I have two desperate hoarders here. Dh cannot part with anything and we have had to dedicate a shed/ barn to his collection. If I don't have to look at it I don't care, but if it starts to encroach into the house I threaten skips. Dd has understandable separation anxiety about stuff. So she has a lot of stuff. No idea what her plan is when she moves out in September.but it ain't staying here

I won't be joining the slimming club, but will cheer you all on. I was a size 24 in 2005. Stress and bereavement and working in catering made me yuge. I started loosing weight over several years hard graft and like cv low carb quite a bit. Never did any more exercise than walking and swimming. Good on you all those toning up.Smile

lalsy · 08/05/2014 20:49

Like the trousers, Auriga

Crem, my dd used to have pronounced separation anxiety (for no obvious reason) - I hadn't put two and two together like that (I had sort of clocked that hoarding was probably a manifestation of anxiety), so thank you for that thought. I will try to sell the idea that she can tend to her Stuff and see it more if we halve the volume. She would love a shed.

NearTheWindymill · 08/05/2014 20:51

Rudy how did you hack my DH's phone to get that first picture?

WW, 6.30, Coombe Lane on Tuesdays if anyone is local and wants to join me Shock.

Blackduck I agree - work is foul; academic promotions, an ET in today, the worst bullying of junior staff I have ever seen and in my department - and we are HR Shock. I am drafting on index cards what I am going to say tomorrow - I couldn't today I was too incandescant. I have been home for less than an hour and have just sat down.

DD was neglected and needs my full attention but hey ho.

CremolaDItalia · 08/05/2014 21:00

Lalsy it probably some spurious idea I have, but it seems to hold true. There is a certain perception of safety if you keep everything for ever.
Losing stuff is unbearable for her so she stockpiles relentlessly . I have always thought it connected to loosing her parents , home and country of birth before she was 5. Might be bolleaux but it makes sense to me.

lalsy · 08/05/2014 21:14

Crem, I think that makes perfect sense and so understandable for your dd. Thank you, that's really useful, I will ponder re my dd.

BD and Windy, sorry work is so dreadful

bigTillyMint · 08/05/2014 21:15

Lalsy (and others) DD is a hoarder/too lazy to chuck stuff out like my DM. And that is enlightening that it is a manifestation of anxiety - not sure exactly how that relates to DD as she has always been a hoarder...

Like the trousers, Auriga!

CremolaDItalia · 08/05/2014 21:26

Oh quick off subject query:
The M&s perfumes that there was inter-crepey swappage with, etc , a few threads ago, which ones were they or would u recommend. Dmums birthday next week....

Stropperella · 08/05/2014 21:33

Dh has a weird thing for collecting packaging materials. His obsession with bubblewrap is getting out of hand. Luckily, we have a large garage for him to keep his cardboard and bubblewrap collection in. However, in fairness, he does get excited when he gets a chance to use said materials as this obviously demonstrates he was right to keep a mountain of them. Hmm

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 08/05/2014 21:47

Crem - it depends what you can get - they were the Lynn Harris ones. M & S at Marble Arch still had La Fleur and Le Sauvage, and a couple of La Rose. Unhelpfully, I have La Poudree and Le Cologne. It depends what she likes. I think most people would like La Poudree. If you hate tuberose (I do), avoid La Fleur.

CremolaDItalia · 08/05/2014 22:07

Oh smashing mrs s. Thanks awfully. Thanks Will go searching over the weekend.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 08/05/2014 22:40

Stropps, yes, we have a lovely collection of cardboard boxes that "will come in useful."

Auriga · 08/05/2014 22:57

May I invite those participating to post your own Trousers of Truth doodles? We can pick one, or each have our own, or have variations on a theme.

DH seems to be in Phase II of the pestilence, in which he's up but not exactly about. Still totally preoccupied with every symptom. Was I like this four days ago? Probably. Did anyone take much notice? No.

CointreauVersial · 08/05/2014 23:00

M&S have actually discontinued the Lynn Harris fragrance range (boo) - you can still find some stock in the stores, though, and it is generally marked down.

Having said that, M&S is now a treasure-trove of wonderful and affordable perfumes, so it is worth having a sniff around.

Just waiting for DH to appear - he set off for Germany at 5.30am, and is currently on the M25 driving back from Heathrow. Long day.....

CointreauVersial · 08/05/2014 23:02

Auriga - I still have a sore throat and feel like I've swallowed a golf ball, but the achy feeling has gone. I think mine was tonsillitis rather than a cold. Hope you are well past the worst.

herbaceous · 08/05/2014 23:25

Westfield Stratford, if that's any good to anyone, still has lots of the Lyn Harris perfumes. I like Cologne and Poudre, and Noir, which I swapped with Addle for Fleur.

originalpiratematerial · 08/05/2014 23:37

Oh is there pestilence abroad generally? We have been continuously lurgified in our house for about three weeks now, first one inhabitant and then another. This means I have not been well enough to attempt a Ladyjog since last week, which is annoying me no end. My condolences to all sufferers.

QueenQueenie · 08/05/2014 23:45

Auriga, how did you post your trouser doodle? Never thought I'd have a reason to write that sentence! Told you all I was a technical numpty...

OP posts:
Auriga · 09/05/2014 00:06

Doodled it on iPad but can't upload from there. Had to e-mail it to myself, open it on Proper Computer, right-click on the attachment and save it as a jpeg, then type the file name into the upload box on MN. Bit of trial and error involved. Go on, QQ!

NUFC69 · 09/05/2014 07:06

I am in awe of your technical ability, Auriga. Not sure I can cope with all of that.

Re perfumes, DH recently bought me some Calyx by Clinique - everyone comments how lovely it is when I wear it. It's just been reintroduced from the 70s, I think.

DD, when about 7, wanted to keep our old washing machine when it packed up! There was room for it, she said, in her bedroom. We are dreadful hoarders, although you wouldn't know it from the rooms downstairs.

Grey day here: Dh cycling so I will have peace for the day.

How did you repost the TofT Rudy? All way too techy for me!

I am 7lbs heavier than I would like to be, so I am going to start on 7 and hopefully get down to zero.

What are your plans, TofTers? Are you all 5:2 or low-carbing? I am intending to cut portion size, all snacks and...???

NUFC69 · 09/05/2014 08:05

ToT 100.

I bit the bullet, too, Rudy, and stepped on the scales. I am Shock at how much I have put on (deluded emoticon).
