Well someone had to do it....

OP posts:
CremolaDItalia · 06/05/2014 23:07

addle im sort of laughing at the idea of stalkerkitten , but I know it must be a worry. Really don't know how to solve that scenario except to fit a magnetic flap. is there a paternity question I wonder?

Pirate welcome back to the fold(s)

I have namechanged obviously because of a certain Italian Cycling race that is eating its way through my life.

MI well done Gandalf.

CointreauVersial · 06/05/2014 23:56

No peeing on bathmats in this house (unless DD2 gets caught short). The Russian Dwarf hammies do leave the odd pellet though.

Bargain of the day - Tesco delivered earlier, and gave me two whole legs of pork that I hadn't ordered. Tesco Finest, no less. Guess what we're having for lunch on Sunday?

bigTillyMint · 07/05/2014 08:32

Cremo, love the new name!

Off to a meeting this morning... think I might stop off for a fortifying coffee in Brixton Market on the waySmile

Blackduck · 07/05/2014 08:33

Ds's birthday yesterday - a quiet one as dp and I had choir - which is currently in melt down...... Monday, Monday - I bloody hate it and we are crap at it so can we just bin it?

Also very tired (still) and seething because dp has announced that he is away for two weeks on the trot which means I have to handle all childcare etc. Sometimes.....

Wot ho Pirate....

beachyhead · 07/05/2014 08:34

We thought sickdog2 had had a mahoosive wee on the kitchen floor this morning, but unfortunately the roof had leaked.....Not good, slopping around making breakfast, doing the floor shuffle with old towels on my feet . It's all linked into the new porch, which is a jumble of bricks, steel and wood at the moment....

But the most exciting news for a very long time. The village is getting proper broadband. You have no idea, city dwellers, but us country folks are linked to you via a plastic cup and a piece of string at the moment Smile

motherinferior · 07/05/2014 08:56

Wooohoo Beachy!

I have a meeting with Client Difficile (aka C.Diff) over lunch. Am gearing up to be suitably emollient. Am not good at this. It may be fine, but it may be grim.

NearTheWindymill · 07/05/2014 09:10

If stalker cat can get into your house I recommend a microchip activated cat flap. Feliway is calming.

Blackduck · 07/05/2014 09:17

Beachy I recognise that broadband issue - we now have super doper fibre - it has transformed our lives ;)

Seriously there is only such much buffering you can take.....

Auriga · 07/05/2014 10:18

Grin at C.diff

Blackduck - choir in meltdown? Care to spill? I'm collecting material for my Great Choir Novel (sprawling saga, several generations; mystery, suspense, corruption, fear and loathing, flouncing, betrayal, sadomasochism, ecstasy and heartbreak, etc etc. Haven't thought about Chapter 2 yet).

None of it (ahem) based on my current choirs, of course.

CremolaDItalia · 07/05/2014 10:23

Lol at c. Diff
Auriga hope you are feeling better after the wretched pestilence.
Beachy -oh no quel disastre!
Hope things are ok, and it can be sorted without too much expense

motherinferior · 07/05/2014 10:26

Ooh Auriga, sounds like my Great Leftwing Novel sprawling from the 1980s onwards all about the peace movement and heartbreak and knitting and monks. Or indeed my Great More Recent Novel about race and colour and Christianity and sex in 19th century India.

herbaceous · 07/05/2014 11:31

What ho all. I get confused between original pirate material and word association football, but then it doesn't take much to confuse me these days.

Just had coffee with a pal at a recently opened Scandinavian cafe. Aswell as the most delicious cinnamon buns, they also sell tasteful scandi homewares, including a long-handled dustpan and brush for £57.

Yes, £57 (fifty seven, LVII). This is something of a departure for this part of the East End.

Auriga: I have some excellent bits you could add to your choir novel. For example, Man T left woman H for woman J. J had just had neck operation, and was allergic to onions. H sent her a jiffy bag full of fried onions in the post. Resultant gagging of J nearly paralysed her. Apparently.

herbaceous · 07/05/2014 11:33

In S&B news, I bought these with-it strides for a mere £10 yesterday. They are a size too small, but this is to 'incentivise' me to lose half a stone.

motherinferior · 07/05/2014 11:39

I sent a recently departed ex (the alcoholic lefty journalist) the dirty washing he'd left behind. Also three pieces of bacon, which at the time I did not eat. In a jiffy bag. To his office. Second class. In a heat wave.

Auriga · 07/05/2014 11:51

Herbs you have caught the tone exactly Grin.

MI yours sound more State of the Nation type thingies. Much shagging in them?

I'm still moderately pestilent, thanks for asking Crem. Am crawling around trying to do stuff, as DH has now gone down with it.

Heard yesterday that one of my charismatic teachers and mentors has died. Hadn't seen him for over 10yrs but still Sad

bigTillyMint · 07/05/2014 12:01

Like the strides Herbs!
And the Scandi cafe sound yum, though less so the dustpan!

Am just reeling from yet another frustrating SS meeting...

motherinferior · 07/05/2014 12:06

Off to meet CDiff...

wordassociationfootball · 07/05/2014 12:28

Hello. Just lurking and dropping in to confuse Herbs Grin Will queue up behind OPM for a fold or two.

The fried onions made me CACKLE.

NUFC69 · 07/05/2014 14:39

Afternoon all, I have had a quiet giggle at the recent posts. The choirs I have been in seem quite tame in comparison: apart from one where the choirmaster used to throw hissy fits at times.

I have had the joy of Costco and Aldi this morning: couldn't resist a bottle of Bellini in Aldi for under three quid (DH thinks it won't live up to the ones I had on the cruise). Will report back when we open it (still on diet so might be a while).

Regarding the staring cat, can only recommend chasing her off every time you see her. I haven't shot our intruder cat with the water pistol, so not sure if that will work. We are currently keeping the cat flap locked when Nucat is in so that he can go out but not get back in until we let him, if you see what I mean.

herbaceous · 07/05/2014 14:51

This is the dustpan in question, for those coveting.

bigTillyMint · 07/05/2014 14:55

Asda's offering!

motherinferior · 07/05/2014 14:57

Have survived CDiff, albeit by agree to do ludicrous amounts of work and conceding on points of grammar which make my teeth itch. Feel urge to point out that (a) have English degree (b) am working journalist at time of major recession (c) am employed to edit, at vast expense, by very picky client indeedAngry

Am also unreasonably annoyed by email from BIL suggesting I join one of those choirs which is all about 'oh, you don't have to read music or indeed be able to sing at all' and feel urge to point out I am reasonably good musician.Angry

herbaceous · 07/05/2014 15:19

BTM - I have the very similar Sainsbury offering!

MI - ooh, that sounds piss-boiling. As if, almost, CDiff doesn't actually know what (s)he is doing, but to cover up the fact becomes immovable on small matters, to establish authority.

And yes - the 'don't need to read music' choirs abound around here, too. Trouble is, they tend to be a bit shit.

QueenQueenie · 07/05/2014 16:10

Grin at choir novel etc pitches

Shock at price of scandi dustpans

Smile at Herbs strides - my prized possession in the early 80s were a pair of Katherine Hamnett camo trews - they had red silk lining and were fab. Could probably fit just my foot in them now if I still had them or rather my mother hadn't thrown them away--

Hmm at C.Diff client - sounds a right pita

Confused at feeling a bit poorly but not sure if it's something migrainey or some hideous bug. Hoping for the former as likely to be more shortlived / less awful...

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 07/05/2014 17:14

Nice strides, Herbs.

Clicking on your link brought up a big banner saying "25% off shorts - today only". Curses, Red Baron. I have a pair currently en route from Boden, but what's the betting they won't fit? Maybe I should pre-empt.....? I do like Gap stuff.

A lovely box of Mango goodies arrived today (ordered when they had their 30% Off weekend), but I somehow managed to leave the box at work. Angry

I have nothing to offer choir-wise. I am still on the hunt for a local choir that has a repertoire that extends beyond the churchy and classical and that doesn't require any singing ability or musical aptitude Wink
