I've only used fake tan once a couple of years ago, and I'm going to get DH to do it again tomorrow using at moritz

What's the best way to apply and how should I get him to apply?

Am watching this with interest as I have a bottle of St Moritz waiting in my bathroom cupboard...

You need a couple of days prep. Exfoliating gloves and moisturise the day before.

No moisturiser before tanning, although you might want to use a little Vaseline on dry patches on ankles, knees, wrists, elbows and hairline.

Definitely use a mitt. Circular buffing motions and thin layers. Better to do thin layers and let them dry in between.

St Moritz is fantastic and is Xen Tan.

If all else fails, I'll send round DP. He's fabulous at doing backs!

disagree that you need a couple of days! Shave/wax, exfoliate and moisturise well in the morning or at least a few hours before you put the tan on. Extra moisturiser on elbows, under arms, knees and feet including ankles half an hour before you apply the tan. I use thin latex surgical type gloves on my hands to apply the tan (have never used a mitt but that could be good too!). Apply two thin layers where you want it. If you have very dry elbows/knees etc, wipe these areas gently with a dry towel or similar after applying the tan and then rub to blend the area. Allow to dry for five mins before dressing. Try not to wash hands or get near water for at least half an hour afterwards and don't shower until the next morning.

Use a mitt for a smooth even finish.

Thank you all

I'm going to get waxed this morning and I have been exfoliating and moisturising so fingers crossed it goes well as I'm away for a hen weekend tomorrow!

I use a ramer sponge instead of a mitt.

Skivvywoman · 24/04/2014 09:12

What's that?

I can't link to one as I'm on my phone. From Boots and supermarkets. It's a dense sponge.

Skivvywoman · 24/04/2014 09:17

Ah like a baby sponge

Oh brilliant!
I had a spray tan, woke up the next morning, looked in the mirror & screamed!
But the guide colour washed off & it was just an amazing tan.
Good luck! Grin
