Lace-free Converse alternatives

evertonmint · 23/04/2014 11:17

I'm now 33 weeks pregnant and my Converse, which I live in at this time of year, are becoming increasingly tricky to tie up so I'm looking for a lace-free easy-on alternative.

I walk up to 2 miles at a time for school/nursery run so it needs to be at least as supportive as Converse (preferably more so as I'm getting a bit heavier on my feet!)

Any suggestions?

Cath Kidston do some that don't have laces?

Also Converse do non lace sneakers. It's worth having a look online.

vans slip ons here

pinkpeoniesx · 23/04/2014 11:24

My slip on Vans are the comfiest shoes I've ever had. It's like walking on cushions! They're really easy to get on without having to bend down Smile

ChaffinchOfDoom · 23/04/2014 11:24

they do kangol slipons at sports direct, they had red ones for £15 last time I went in, similar to Vans but slightly less....cool Wink

Thanks. I like the style of the Cath K but I don't really do her patterns. Will check out Vans - anyone know how they size relative to Converse?

I've just spotted these in Clarks too

Vans run true to size, whereas converse come up a tad small for me. I'm a 5 usually and wear a 5 in Vans, which fit perfectly, but a 5.5 in Converse.

pinkpeoniesx · 23/04/2014 11:32

Ps just saw your Clarks link. I've got the leopard print Vans which are almost identical, have a look on the Office website as they're exclusive to there atm (sorry I'm on my phone so can't link!)

SorrelForbes · 23/04/2014 11:32

The laces on Converse Dance don't need tying. The shoes just slip on and off.

hugoagogo · 23/04/2014 11:58

When I hurt my back I laced my converse with white elastic, voila slip ons. Grin

Hugo - you are a genius! DH bought me a pair of gold Converse at Christmas which I love and now I can carry on wearing them! :o

I might still buy some Vans anyway as I've budgeted for them this month :)

Toms? They are v comfy

ChaffinchOfDoom · 23/04/2014 12:34

you So deserve Vans Wink

evertonmint · 23/04/2014 12:35

My SIL has Toms and recommended them and I do like them, but the soles look a bit thinner than Converse/Vans and I was a bit concerned about 2 miles walking at a time plus a heavy baby-laden weight landing on them IYSWIM. I might try a pair though as I think they'd be great for summer.

They are. Lovely & lightweight. They are quite comfy on the sole but now you mention it they do wear out a lot quicker than Vans. I forgot how hard wearing they are, wore the same pair each day for years when I was a student!
