Where do you buy jeans from?!

I feel very limited to Miss Selfridge (I'm a size 8) but they only ever have about 4 different things in their petite range, and then it's a luck of the draw if anything actually looks good on me.

I've worn the same pair of black skinny jeans for about 5 weeks in a row now Blush

Also, while I'm here, what kind of shoes do you wear with day dresses? I'm a SAHM and no good with heels really...!

diddl the Next high waisters are such a revelation after suffering years with way too low waistbands and muffin top spillage. They are not silly high (think Princess Diana c.1996) but high enough to keep everything in check. I wouldn't buy anything else now - just wish they did high waisters in more colours. The M& S jeggings are about the same waist wise

diddl · 22/04/2014 17:00

I'll have to give them a try I think.

I've taken to wearing jeggings as they are so comfortable, but haven't really got the figure-well, not to wear with t shirts!

I think H&M do "normal" waisters now, but it's a bit of a trek there & I cbaBlush

However will be going to UK soon so will try Next.

I'm 5 foot 1 and quite a pear shape so I love Next high waisted jeans - I wear a size 6 or 8 depending how baggy I want them and love the fit. I've just looked at the Next website and can't see them in a petite length but I wear the regular 29 inch inside leg and find the length is perfect on me.

I prefer the high waisted as I hate it when I squat down my arse falls out of regular jeans and I think I'm flashing my bumcrack at people!

Re shoes with dresses I tend to wear ballet flats, or canvas pumps or flipflops if the weather is nice enough. If the weather is rubbish I wear tights and knee length boots.

Bhs petite straight leg dark denim or black. They are fab fitting and only £15. I am 5'2" and size 14 but the size 12 is perfect fit and length.

Next and New Look fit me well.

Velve · 22/04/2014 20:07

I can also sometimes find something in the Sainburys Tu range and they have the bonus of being cheap.

homebythesea · 22/04/2014 21:29

sidge I'm wearing petite high waisters right now so can confirm their existence!

Sidge · 22/04/2014 21:32

home I'm sure they exist, I just couldn't find them on the website!!

(But the Next website is awful, to be fair)

BecauseIsaidS0 · 23/04/2014 08:25

I buy what I like and have their hem taken. Pricey, but worth it.

Goldendandelion · 23/04/2014 13:09

Here they are (hopefully)

Omg I forgot I started this thread! Thanks so much everyone.

I went to Primark and they now do short arse jeans!! So I got a pair for £11 and a pair for £7, bargain.

I bought some age 13-14 jeans from New Look a while ago but after a few months they completely lost their shape and elasticity Confused

Next is good, I forgot about Next! Although they don't have much here; it's quite a small store.

And pumps with dresses it is!

Jeans are quite easy to take up if you have a machine. The secret is to bash the seams with a hammer on a solid surface first so they dont bunch up and get some matching top thread, usually a gold shade and away you go.

bluesbaby · 24/04/2014 14:18

I'm 5 foot, I pretty much exclusively wear Levis jeans (I'm an hourglass and it's a bloody nightmare fitting waist and hips). My legs aren't actually that short though. I don't have much of a torso, it's literally all boob.

I love the jeggings at the moment, think it's code 535. Quite a few different colours available. The Revel cuts are also quite nice.

The good thing with Levis is that you can get them taken up for free in store if you need to.

bluesbaby · 24/04/2014 14:21

Shoes with dresses - flipflops or sandals if it's warm (never anything with ankle straps as it just makes us look even shorter). Clarks court shoes (mid heel) if I want to be smarter.
