Have you thought about getting your face done at a counter and buying the foundation, eyeliner, lip stain/gloss etc and an eyeshadow? I'd start there and buy a new eyeshadow each week until I had a few.

I cleared my make up drawer bag years ago and travel very light now. What's your budget and the look you prefer?

I use foundation, mascara, and red lippie. Occasionally blusher (very little). It takes me 2 minutes to apply make-up. If I want to look a bit more dressed up/different, say on a night out, a bit of smoky grey eye shadow and blue under eye liner (light).

I'm fair skinned, blue/grey eyes dark hair. And a bit older than you.

I can't remember what the foundation is, it's upstairs, and I'm too knackered to go find it. Its colourfast or something. I used Elizabeth Arden for about 20 years until my dcs started costing me a fortune I got poor Grin. Now it's Superdrug or what's on offer.

I went into a Mac shop the other day and nearly had a fit at the prices. But I'm afraid I'm a non-believer.

Do what StupidFlanders suggested upthread & do ask for samples before you buy.

Also try the inexpensive but v good Superdrug MUA range for experimenting with different colours/looks fairly cheaply.

Boots No 17 colour match foundation & Blusher in Nude plus Elizabeth Arden 8 hr liptint are my regulars.

I have a restricted budget for make up
And like you recently I've had to update it all, mainly as a treat to me after two years of using the cheapest stuff in town. But for foundation mascara and powder for a fiver can't complain.
Anyway I must admit rimmel do some good stuff I love there mascara I think it's volumise one.

I just discovered this

www.boots.ie/en/Garnier-Miracle-Skin-Cream-Anti-ageing-and-skin-transforming-care-50ml_1433008/

It's amazing. Comes out the tube white then adjusts to ur skin tone when rubbed in. It blurs imperfections and there is a separate eye cream too. It's my new holy grail product. X
