Converse or Superga? And what colour?

I keep reading that Superga are more comfortable than Comverse. Are they really? Anyway, have a pair of a dark-ish grey Converse in my John Lewis basket then got looking at Superga but the colours are a bit too pastel for me. Now dithering - which brand and dark grey, light grey, navy, double tongue, single tongue, blah blah blah. Just need a wearable colour for spring/summer - bearing in mind I'm a 40-something, not a twenty-something! What has anyone else got?

I recently found a pair of navy superga in tk maxx for £7- I kid you not!! They were half a size too big but I snapped them up and they are lovely to wear, very comfy.

I know tk maxx is hit and miss but keep your eyes open!!

Well, mine were a perfect fit and I'm a standard UK 6. I got the low tops in orange, and am trying to justify some high tops in another colour The soles are softer than Converse and there's a bit more of an instep support.

Hmm. Narrow I think; I have narrow feet and they don't do the slightly stupid bulgy toe area thing that some trainers do if I lace them tightly enough.

I have a pair of navy superga. They are very comfy and quite hard wearing. I have never had converse.

Doesn't look like they have as good a range of colours this year. Last year they had some lovely aqua/turquoise ones, which I can't see on the website now.

I have both - I find the supergas more comfortable on my wide-ish feet. I think they're better made than Converse: sturdier sole and more supportive, but also a bit heavier. If you've got massive feet like mine the supergas are more flattering than converse, which tend to make your feet look miles long. Have got supergas in khaki linen (really nice but the linen wears out a lot more quickly than the standard canvas ones especially after a couple of washes) and just ordered some standard ones in camel for this summer. Yy to looking for bargains - I got the linen ones from amazon for about ten quid last year

I've got both and think that the Superga's are much comfier than converse. Converse feel tight after a while and hurt my feet. I've just ordered the bronze metallic Superga's

Thanks all. I've been really boring and ordered Converse in a pale/washed grey as I figure it's neutral enough to go with everything. Oh, hang on, I also ordered navy leather to try as an alternative. A huge order from Office as all but one child also chose Converse - maybe too much of a theme developing !

Superga are not more comfy than Converse! I have navy Superga, and hardly ever wear them, as they are clumpy and make my feet look massive. Converse seem to be made for my feet.

Converse all the way. Silver low tops for work today. Supergiant just seem a bit frumpy to me - may be my age. And never never lookalike so for either. Never.

Richtea thanks to this thread I've had bronze Superga's delivered today, and they are gorgeous. DD2 (16, opinionated) hates them though, but that may be because they're not mumsy enough .
