Wedding accessories

I have never posted here before and I'm a bit scared so be gentle! I have bought this dress fro my niece's wedding in June and I love it. I also have a shrug in case it is chilly in a lemon/lime shade which matches the flowers/leaves in the dress design.
I am at a bit of a loss about accessories - hat: yes or no? I like hats. I have very short hair and don't know what style hat would suit both that and the dress, or if it would be better without.
Shoes? I have size 9 feet so options are limited! Have no ides about colour or style, except I'm not great with high heels. SHoes lead inevitably to bag. COnfused there too!
I'm not very good at being a girl - the size 9 feet give you an inkling as to why. I have a large frame (plus I'm overweight on top of that) however this dress makes me feel uncharacteristically feminine. I'd like to complete the outfit properly!

Wow, that dress is really lovely! I don't think a hat is necessary, unless you particularly want one.

In June, you could wear either strappy sandals, or ballet flats. Peach or lime would be nice for the wedding, but gold would also look good, and might be more versatile afterwards.

Do you like this Henderson Silk style in lime suede or metallic leather ?

cardibach · 19/04/2014 13:26

Thanks LadyMud I hadn't thought of something like that. I think I like those in lime green and I'd be able to use them a lot afterwards, too, which will counteract the fact that they are a bit more than I hoped to spend! Clarks 9s don't always fit, but as they come in a wider fitting they might!
I have been looking at this sort of thing this morning, but I think I prefer the flats.

Me again. What does anyone think of this style of sandal? I'm so indecisive!

Hi cardi, I think that dress is lovely! It sounds like you've done really well finding a matching cover up too.

Personally I don't like those white sandals with it, as they a bit chunky and I fear they may look a bit cheap paired with the dress (whereas with jeans, a t shirt and a statement necklace they'd look great)

If it were me I'd go for something very dainty on my feet, as the dress is quite full. If you can't find suitable shoes in matching lime I'd go for tan, rose gold or white. How about...

( I own these, they go with everything and look suitably glam without being stilettos!)

Then similarly bag wise id keep it very simple, to let the dress speak for itself

Curls those links go to the accessorize home page for me :( I don't think their shoes fit me anyway, but I'd like to know what kind of shoe they are...
I thought that about keeping it simple for a bag, too. Thanks for replying :)

Here you go: Metallic shoes and Rose shoes

cardibach · 19/04/2014 20:08

Thank you!

Oh just checked back on this and saw my links didn't work! Sorry about that, and thanks for fixing it ladymud!

Op has size 9 feet and so there's no point deciding on a shoe/sandal style in advance - it is a matter of picking from the very limited availability.

I'm size 8 and that is restricted enough on choice - the only way to shop for shoes is to ask what is available first. To do otherwise just wastes loads of time.

none of the recommendations go above 42, and that is only an 8 with luck - I often find them too small.

best of British, OP - if you do find anything for those of us with feet built for stability, please advise as I also have a wedding to attend!

whereisshe · 21/04/2014 13:37

I think keep the shoes simple with that dress, it's lovely and you don't want to distract from it. I agree with Curls, I think delicate is best. Something like these?

whereisshe · 21/04/2014 13:44

Or a kitten heel?
