bugger re top being big. I just ordered the 14. It will fit Michelle McManus

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/05/2014 18:25

I may check out Next for the first time in ages then. Only ever go in to look at sofas etc. Do they still do sterling silver earrings too?

Littlepinkpear · 08/05/2014 18:27

I am de lurking but have read the entire thread! I'm on mat leave but your style on the blog Belinda is very much me whatever the occasion and I am loving it.

Not been in a BR in ages, but in need some simple straight trousers for summer to wear with flats.

What trouser style would you suggest for pear shaped ladies? I tried some on last year in NYC and loved the but cannot for the life of me remember the style. They didn't have my size at the time, but the size either side

lurkingaround · 08/05/2014 18:29

Like the BR red bag. Good for AHEM pop of colour. Moooove over Pink Peonies.

Have v little time to go thru BR tonight, must try.

Ok. Not work related but for the first time ever I am drawing a blank on high street bikinis. Anyone see any? I like halter, I like underwire, but thats nit a must, and ordinary bikini bottom, no shorts thingys.

lurkingaround · 08/05/2014 18:45

Belinda is this the silk shirt you like?

lurkingaround · 08/05/2014 18:54

Hi pinkpear. This is Belinda's day out Wink in Banana Republic. I have the Martin trousers from there and am a pear too. They're a nice fit, wool, and fully lined but quite wide-legged so they look a bit dated. They're v comfy to wear. I sewed down the pockets and got the legs narrowed. Size down as per usual with Gap and BR.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 08/05/2014 19:03

Angry page refreshed and I lost my post.

This is me in the size 2 Sloane trousers from BR. For work, I would size up to size 4. Those photos are on my phone, though, so can't post the size 4 photos right now.

pinkpear - that's really nice, thank you!

lurking - yes, I really do like that shirt! It's a bit see through, though, unlike the stretch silk shirts they did in winter. I bought a black Monogram one from the winter range and I really recommend keeping an eye out for them next winter. I guess they think we need thin shirts for summer?

you need my argos link for earrings remus

EduardoBarcelona · 08/05/2014 19:04

Blinners BR should get you freebies ( in all sizes to ahem share)

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 08/05/2014 19:05

Re bikinis, have you had a look at the J Crew ones in the sale section? I saw lots of underwiring.

Littlepinkpear · 08/05/2014 19:13

Ta Lurking, going to order some things tonight, loving the eyelet top and some of the shorts too

lurkingaround · 08/05/2014 19:24

Thanks, I did Belinda. I'm a 28-30 back, not easy to find in high street bikinis so I make do with 32 but I need a D or E. I wonder are the J Crew ones generous of size? Hate the returns.
I might wait for the winter-weight silk (who knew) BR shirts. Tempted by the red bag tho. So little time tonight to look. And am on flipping teeny tiny phone.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 08/05/2014 20:00

J Crew has lots of fans who blog about their stuff, so a question on Google about sizing might get you an answer. There is a code (SALESALE I think it is?) that gets you a further 30% off sale stock.

Re the winter weight silk, I don't know if it's a "thing" BR does, but I did notice the difference in opacity between the winter (opaque) and summer (semi sheer) silk shirts they have in their Monogram range.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 08/05/2014 20:17

Not sure if I posted on this thread my thoughts about how to make one's legs look longer? This article makes some of the same points but more eloquently and has some extras, too www.whowhatwear.com/how-to-make-legs-look-longer-thinner-2014

EduardoBarcelona · 08/05/2014 21:26

So funny. That blog. I have long legs. I break all those rules to put me into proportion. Have ankle showing have low waist etc

noddyholder · 08/05/2014 21:28

Same if I stuck to rules I would wear cami/cardi combo or wrap dresses

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/05/2014 21:31

My legs are far longer than the rest of me - if I'm not careful, I can look all legs and tits, because I'm v short waisted.

noddyholder · 08/05/2014 21:33

Me too I look better without clothes really but needs must

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/05/2014 21:34

I most definitely look better WITH clothes!!!

noddyholder · 08/05/2014 21:36

Think I look ok in underwear but have to be so careful with clothes s can look topply

libertychick · 08/05/2014 21:37

Belinda thanks so much for all that info on jewellery. I went into Zara today and bought this one. Have been trying it out tonight and while I think it looks good it's quite a bit bigger than most of my jewellery so will take me a week or two to decide if it's a keeper or not.

BTW what do you think of Coast jewellery? I also bought this necklace today and it looks good but keeps twisting (with the slightest movement) so I'll return it.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 08/05/2014 21:48

That's the Zara necklace that I want to buy! I keep trying to get to the shops but am being thwarted. Hopefully tomorrow!

I haven't seen any Coast jewellery in real life, so can't comment. If you like it, that's the litmus test, though, really, isn't it, as to whether jewellery is good or not?

Ha ha - I am all legs, so need to break those rules, too. Although I appreciate that ankle straps, even though they are in, don't really do anyone any favours, so I approach them w caution.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 08/05/2014 21:49

Looking at that Coast necklace again, it seems like you get much more for your money at Zara.

noddyholder · 08/05/2014 21:51

What is the prob with ankle straps I suit those!

libertychick · 08/05/2014 21:57

Yes the Zara jewellery looks (and feels) better value but some lovely looking items in Coast. Probably better to wait for Coast sales as they always go to 50%. I liked this one too IRL but it was more Wallis/Topshop quality.
