fricken pop of colour.

I look at DMBLL - dunno why as she and I are not at all the same shape and much as I adore her she recommends cheap then buys $$.
School gate style is DULL but I flick past and I LOVE TO HATE style guile. LOVE IT, it is SO SO irritating.*

  • see me for private bitchfest
noddyholder · 05/05/2014 09:26

Oh I like her but just because I like her lol

noddyholder · 05/05/2014 09:27

Pop of colour Lorraine Kellyism

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 05/05/2014 18:37

Sorry, still mentally spending $30-40k per month on shoes and general fripperies. I could do it, you know, I think I have what it takes. Or I'd be happy to try, anyway! Grin

Remus - thanks for the Mango link, not sure that cream colour would work. I will do some real life shopping. As for the Desigual link - no. Why did that even make it to production? Is it so hard to make nice clothes? I guess so.

EduardoBarcelona · 05/05/2014 18:48

Desigual is just odd

MrsCampbellBlack · 05/05/2014 18:56

I don't get desigual or irregular choice. Have just started 19th wife.

EduardoBarcelona · 05/05/2014 18:58

Or those shitty 50s wiggle dress crap. Vivienne of whatever

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/05/2014 19:41

Disigual stuff is really ugly. I'm all for slightly off-beat stuff, but that just doesn't work - and it's so expensive for what it is (ie stuff that looks like it came from Camden market circa 1987).

And the Vivien of H stuff that gets pushed on here all the time just looks a bit cheap and tacky to me, I'm afraid. What annoys me is that the people who tout it laugh at the idea of a 'skinnies and a scarf uniform' for example, then just tout their own 'uniform' at every opportunity.

Telling somebody who may not be confident in their style to wear a petticoat and 50s dress to a wedding is opening them up to looking a bit daft, imvvvho.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 05/05/2014 19:47

Agree w all those comments re Irregular Choice, Desigual and Vivienne of H.

MissMarjoribanks · 05/05/2014 20:45

After seeing them linked on here I went and bought the orange suede Clarks Kendras. Now, wtf do I wear them with? If I have something that bright would it be too much to wear for eg the Oasis butterfly pencil skirt that Belinda had on her blog?

What about my navy stripe Whistles tube skirt? I only have a green top which goes with that.

I'm just thinking that I need to be more sensible but a lady in the shop (not staff) told me that they looked stunning and would go with everything. Now I'm not so sure.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/05/2014 20:47

You found Kendras to fit you? I hate you. Grin

I think they'd be brilliant with a stripey Whistles skirt, maybe with a white top?

MissMarjoribanks · 05/05/2014 20:57

Well I'm not sure yet that the fit is that good either Remus, but it's so difficult to judge just at home. I have sized down to a 5 so they don't slip off at the back but they seem tightish round the ball of my foot. But not uncomfortably so. After a day in them who knows? I have just forgotten how to buy anything other than Converse after a year's mat leave.

EduardoBarcelona · 05/05/2014 20:59

Why orange ? Mate at work has them. Ill think what she wears them With.

MissMarjoribanks · 05/05/2014 21:00

And you're right, I need to buy a white top... (have Hobbs and Ted Baker white shirts but both quite close fitting, think the tube skirt needs a slouchy top otherwise it's a bit bodycon).

MissMarjoribanks · 05/05/2014 21:01

Orange cos I thought they went with black, navy, grey and beige / brown.

EduardoBarcelona · 05/05/2014 21:25

They're a bit of a woo statement orange shoes

capet · 05/05/2014 21:43

The orange will add a pop of colour

BillStickersIsInnocent · 05/05/2014 21:44

I love orange shoes. But I wear a lot of orange/coral. And navy.

EduardoBarcelona · 05/05/2014 22:00

POP OF FRICKEN COLOUR

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 05/05/2014 22:29

I have some orange heels and wore them to work often, with stone, charcoal, navy, cream, white and black. It's a versatile colour and a bit less "obvious" than red. Although I have, and love, red heels, too.

Pop pop pop. There, I said it Grin. I await $30K, upon which it's Rockstuds all 'round.

"I'm obsessing on" - another $30K, please. Then it's Alexander McQueen de Manta clutches all 'round.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 05/05/2014 22:36

I also think orange heels would work with a printed skirt that had some orange in it, if you wear a plain coloured top. If only I could link from Pinterest (why, ipad, why? What have I done to make you treat me so disrespectfully??)

MissMarjoribanks · 05/05/2014 22:53

Thank you. I'm swinging wildly between returning them and not returning them. I've got till Friday to decide.

I've made the mistake again of buying something I then have to buy other things to go with. Curse of the limited wardrobe.

PS Belinda I am finding your blog very useful, particularly as we seem to be a very similar size and shape.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 05/05/2014 22:57

You can just do some trying on between now and Friday, then. That's nice that you are finding the blog useful, thank you!

Do you want to have a limited wardrobe? I'm not a capsule wardrobe person - I like variety and options, but a lot of people like to be minimal, in this regard. A friend asked me to do a capsule wardrobe post, so I will do one soon.

MissMarjoribanks · 05/05/2014 23:04

I don't want a limited wardrobe but have finished my 2nd mat leave slimmer but older looking. Nothing from pre-babies fits or suits me now (and the stuff that does has fallen apart) and I am gradually rebuilding. It takes time, especially when I have more expensive taste now too, partly because of the looking older thing. I just can't pull off New Look anymore.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 05/05/2014 23:10

It does take time, I agree. eBay can be great, to supplement your shop purchases. If you stick to brands you like / that suit you, ?ou can get some fantastic bargains. I buy a lot of silk tops, by Zara and Massimo Dutti, this way.
