I've never had a facial but due to feeling a bit old at the moment Grin, I've decided one might be in order. What do they actually do, and is there any that are particularly recommended for late-ish forties skin? Also, do you have to leave the salon make-up free, or can you reapply the slap before leaving?

The good ones make you look better eg younger but some are more about relaxation.

Caci, hydradermie & dermalogica are ones I've tried and liked.

Elemis didn't do much for me though.

Skin peels are best if you want to see a visible difference, or microdermabrasion. They cost the same as a prescriptive dermalogica facial.

You should not put any make up on til the next day, ideally.

I am pushing 50 and I find them very relaxing. I also like Dermalogicas.

Dermalogica or a Crystal Clear treatment

Thanks for the replies. I've got sensitive skin so thought the skin peels or microdermabrasion might be a bit too much. So Dermalogica it is then!
