Dry skin problems! Help

Has anyone got any tips they swear by? My skin is tired, seems to have lost its 'boing' if you know what I mean. I have the obligatory redness around my nose that comes with dry skin. I know that it is my skin type and I can't change that, but I do get hard flaky patches especially under my eye that I can't shift, no matter how much exfoliating I do. I also have dark circles. My skin is fine otherwise, and I look okay from a distance, but when I'm sitting in sunlight doing my makeup it looks awful.

I moisturise like crazy ( I use Nivea creme, if that is bad then tell me!) It is important that I get it sorted as I'm looking to work in the beauty industry (retail) so want to look the part for any potential interviews, which goes in hand with my next question- which foundation do you swear by if you're like me?

My skin was dry and is sensitive but I love nuxe and use this They stock it in large m&s so you could get a sample to try.

I also use clarins extra comfort cleanser, I slap it on but remove it with a hot damp muslin or flannel. I do this morning and night. I do think that sometimes over exfoliating makes my skin worse so don't bother with that too much now.

I've also just got a sample of benifit wow oxygen foundation (I think that's what it's called) and quite like that, it is quite dewy and is a light coverage.

Thank you Optimus, I'll try out those things tomorrow-my local shopping centre has an M&S and a Debenhams.
