Going to a party - need help please!

This is the first time I've started a thread so please be gentle with me! I'm going to a friends 30th birthday party next Saturday and am having a bit of a crisis! I'm going through some problems at the moment and my self confidence is at an all time low right now. I've got a lovely dress to wear but I feel like a right fatty and really ugly! I've got some of those hold-it-all-in pants and am planning to get a haircut before.

Anyone got any other tips which I might be able to try to boost my self confidence?!

Thanks!

don't do the hold it in pants - all they do is push any fat over the waistband. Instead buy a control slip (i.e like a dress). You can get them from M&S and they'll give you a much smoother line.

Go and get your make up done at the mac counter...you have to pay but if you buy the products, you get the makeover fee back. It's prob best to book, they're v busy but they will make you look fab. Honest!

Make sure that at least one item you wear - shoes, bag, earrings, whatever - is something you completely love and feel fabulous about. Then you can turn all your emotional energy away from focusing on negatives and concentrate instead on your truly amazing necklace/nails/bangle.

Great tips thanks! Think I'm going to go accessory shopping and treat myself to something new. Will also ask about the mac make over and look into the slips. I know the party will be fab I just need to feel fab to enjoy it!
