Does anyone have one of these from Russell and Bromley?

They look fab and the range of colours is great but I'm not sure they are v practical as the don't seem to have any way to close them properly at the top.

If anyone owns one, I would some feedback.

I don't have that particular bag but it does look lovely, I own a R&B Quilty bag and it's a really lovely bag. Soft leather, well made etc. for the price you get a great quality bag at a fraction of the price of a high end bag. Are you near a store to have a look at it in rl?

Yes I have the tan leather croc one.. I bought it as a treat for myself when pregnant and tragically since baby arrived it's been collecting dust as the nappy bag is my handbag for now Hmm.

It's lovely quality, goes with everything and is big enough to easily hold everything I need ( makeup, purse, phone, keys, kindle, bottle water).

You are right though- it doesn't fasten at all at the top and thus can be insecure if out. There is a lovely matching leather pouch that comes with it though and is attached to the interior. I use this to carry valuables if necessary ( it's zip up).

I'd recommend. It's a classic IMO which should last years.

I fancied that too last season. But was put off - my DS's DP has one in green and, though it looked lovely, she said the lack of a proper way to close it was a major defect, particularly on public transport, etc.

polyhymnia · 11/04/2014 09:47

PS I did try to put all the things I'd want to keep secure into the pouch when looking at it in store and found it difficult to get them all in. Maybe I'm not good enough at editing my valuables

Thank you. I think I need to have a look at it. The colours are great but it doesn't sound the most practical bag.

I like that bag. How about this www.russellandbromley.co.uk/totes/ivy/invt/712869 as an alternative if you want a top closure? (Also in a great range of colours!)

I have the mini- willow in dark green. It has been barely used due to the open top and the fact it doesn't fit over my shoulder. It hasn't been a practical buy for me.

BeaLola · 11/04/2014 18:15

I lusted after both small and large versions in the dark green and nearly bought... At the time I decided to wait and ask for my birthday from DH. In the interim I bought a similar type of tote from a Fossil outlet and that has put me off completely because whilst the R and B one is beautiful I found with my fossil that it annoys me that there is no means to keep anything inside secure. At work for example it got nudged on desk and everything fell onto floor ... When out shopping everything just goes to bottom all of a jumble so whilst I love the idea of it its not practical fwor me.

Yes, the Ivy bag looks like a more sensible choice.

Any ideas for other good quality leather bags with a range of colours?
