So... Since going back to work I've noticed everyone , everyone seems to be wearing dresses at work. My black standard trousers which I've been wearing (variants of same style) since the early naughties are looking so tired and old fashioned
Where oh where to buy nice work gear? I don't want a suit but do want smart ish. And I don't want much leg on show. Help!

What's the dress code like where you work? I bought this White Company dress the other day and it's very comfy, knee length (I'm 5ft 6) and looks very smart with a jacket over it. Also nice with a cardi.

Sales are your friends. Laura Ashley, Hobbs, LK Bennett all reduce heavily. Phase Eight also have nice dresses if you avoid the overly fussy ones. IMO Dorothy Perkins always a bit shoddy quality for workwear so I'd rather spend a little more but in sales, from good shops where you know the quality will last. Having said that, Tesco often have nice work dresses too!

My 'uniform' is a dress, worn with opaques, simple jewellery and simple shoes. Makes getting dressed a breeze Smile

Almost all my work dresses are from next....

I only wear dresses for work. I buy mainly from the following :
Vivienne Westwood
Hobbs
Like Bennett
Phase Eight
Laura Ashley
Damsel in a dress

Great Plains , white stuff, phase eight, try house of Fraser eg linea for ones that aren't too short or m and s.

CointreauVersial · 10/04/2014 22:14

M&S Autograph always have some nice tailored dresses.

My most recent work dress purchase was from Primark. Bargain.

trixymalixy · 10/04/2014 22:16

My best work dresses are from Great Plains. They do a good sale, so worth waiting for that.

blueshoes · 10/04/2014 22:26

Some of the more sobre ones from Boden are also good for work. You can wait for the sales.

Another option is Baukjen for bodycon work dresses.

My ex-boss used to wear a lot of Cos, though it is not my style.

Ooh lots more ideas. I came back to say Me and Em also worth a look at sale time, fab quality.
