Summer essentials

Right, so I'm going shopping for a few summer bits on Friday and I need some help. I'm a size 14 egg-timer (at 5'2 I'm too short to be an hourglass). I'm not in the UK, but I'll be near a Next, M&S, Debenhams, H&M and River Island (although I'm a bit scared of those last 2).

My current core wardrobe consists of:

  • dark blue slim bootcut jeans (a bit big for me and I'm kinda bored of them so happy to replace)
  • cardis in baby blue, red, navy & black (2 from H&M that have gone very out of shape after about 3 wears)
  • black linen a-line dress
  • cream top balloon bottom top with navy/purple flowers
  • black fitted dress (work/going out)
  • navy fitted dress (work/going out)
  • geometric print dress
  • black wide leg linen trousers
  • short navy fitted blazer
  • knitted cowl neck cream dress
  • black cotton wrap around skirt
  • jersey maxi dress

I think need some trousers, maybe a (denim?) skirt, some good t-shirts/tops and a couple of cardigans. I'm willing to go for colour but I'm not great on patterns. I don't have much of a budget, so ideally I'd like things that can double as workwear (smart casual) and that I can pick the kids up and go to the playground in. Oh, and I'll need a pair of runners/sandals for walking to and around the playground, since I had to retire my Birkenstocks.

I'm completely clueless, so any advice on what/where to buy and how to put bits together would be brilliant!
