What would you wear for this?

I have a new job Grin

Part-time, admin at a university.

I'm going in tomorrow to "meet the team" and do some paperwork. Not sure when I'm starting, but probably soon.

I'm at a loss as to what I should wear (and I really should have thought about it before 7pm the night before). I wore a suit for the interview. But for the life of me I can't remember what the interviewers wore (1 from HR, head of admin and the head of department I'd be working directly for).

Suit again? Dress? I'd have to perform a miracle to get it dry on time, as I only washed it this morning Skirt with top/shirt?

I really want to make a good first impression but I have no ideas. And it doesn't help that it still gets up to 23/24 degrees here at the moment so it can be a bit hot and sticky.

Help please!

What about the trousers and the top from the suit but without the jacket? University staff are usually pretty casual but you dont want to overdo the casual on the first day.

Or a nice top and pencil skirt? It's sightly less formal than a suit but still nice and smart.

It's a skirt suit, so I'm a little afraid it's obviously suit-without-jacket.

But I do have a nice red floral top that I could wear under the suit to make it less formal looking.

(Unfortunately pregnancy + eating like a student when I did my Masters = not much of my clothes fit me anymore)

Im in this exact position! Just got a part time admin job and my question in the interview was what do I need to wear?

They said smart casual- no jeans badically.
Ive got two pairs of smart black trousers to wear with either black flats/ heels and two sleeveless black/ white blouses from next.

Ive also been looking at tube/ pencil dresses online (dorothy perkins good for this) for when its hotter.

I went with suit skirt (straight, black, to the knee - dull but safe Grin) and a red/white dressy-ish floral top. Black & grey low heels. I brought my suit jacket in case I thought I needed it, but didn't wear it in. I think I got it just right given what everyone else was wearing.

Of course I have very little else in that style so when I start next week I'm really stuck.

DesperateHousewife that's the sort of stuff I was thinking, but with my size/shape the trousers-with-blouse combo looks dreadful on me.

Hmmm... I feel another thread coming on...

Hmm maybe some dresses but not too fitted, more floaty. Hard to explain!

Trying to think what the office staff wear at my place. My black trousers are slim fit so it doesnt all look too baggy.

Universities are pretty laid back.. I worked in one for several years . dont bother about the suit.. no one else wil be wearing one.. smart casual should be ok, but for first day , id go for skirt and top or trousers and top, flats or boots, cardi, or jacket ..
Dont panic! its will be great
