Aleo Vera gel

I've just read that putting a thin layer of pure aleo vera gel over your night cream "seals in" the moisture and stops you loosing so much on your pillow....
I have dry skin (its ok at the moment) and am always looking at ways to lock in moisture. But how does your skin breath? I'm in full makeup all day (double wear) so it doesn't "breath" much.
Has anyone tried this? Is it to be used each night? Or just when your skin is dry? Or could I use it over my day moisturiser, under primer to keep moisture in, or won't that make a difference?
I've already got pure aleo Vera gel as I use it instead of shaving foam.
Sorry about the 50 questions lol but with fussy skin I like to research things well before I try them!

I suspect that may have been loose drafting, rather than describing an actual seal.
