Where can I get nice work trousers from

ClimbingPenguin · 06/04/2014 20:40

Just that really.

I'm after more office type trousers - code is smart casual. I prefer trousers and blazers. Found some in Zara I really liked, but they are a bit too big.

Everywhere seems to either be skinny casual trousers, which are fine but fade quickly or massively wide legged trousers (e.g Next)

I'm a size 8ish, but only 5' (weigh 51 kg)

Smallish budget but happy to pay up to #50 is (i) they fit and (ii) they wash OK. (I have 2 and 4 yr old).

Only relatively moved into real jobs from academia so a bit clueless really.

I am a similar size to you & I bought several work trousers from Warehouse & Dorothy Perkins for under 50 each. They are good quality & wash really well.

BellaVita · 06/04/2014 20:51

I am 5ft and about 53kg, so slightly larger than you. I have just bought two pair (stone and black) of trousers from Zara. They have little splits on the inside of the trousers at the bottom. I suspect they should be ankle length in someone, but I literally just turned them under at the hem and they stayed that way.

I bought size 10 so would think 8's would fit you nicely, have had lots of compliments wearing them.

Oh and I have washed them and they washed lovely. £35.99 a pair.

Legologgo · 06/04/2014 20:51

i would say gap but you iz too small

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 06/04/2014 20:56

Bella, these? They are v flattering, I agree. www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/trousers/trousers-with-slit-at-the-hem-c358005p1797006.html

oooh answers :)

The Zara ones are too big round the waist, top thigh area Confused. I brought some anyway. I thought I had got the smallest ones. One pair had to get immediately regulated to slumming around the front room lounge wear

Yes to being a tad long but boots cover that.

I'll try DP again but couldn't find anything other than black bootleg. Never looked into warehouse.

I bought some pale grey slim trousers from H+M yesterday with lovely zip pockets.

Worth trawling through their work wear section to see what you can find.

BellaVita · 06/04/2014 21:00

Yes Belinda!

I have just trawled the bloody website looking for them and couldn't find them...

They are a lovely fit.

BellaVita · 06/04/2014 21:03

Climbing, I got S, so am sure XS would fit you? If you have got the wrong size though, take them back!

MsAspreyDiamonds · 06/04/2014 21:08

I bought a pair of size 8 7/8 length trousers which look perfect with flats from DP. I had a good hunt through the rails & they are slim fit & cost 20.

ClimbingPenguin · 06/04/2014 21:09

These were the ones I got one, two & three

Last one my label says US 2 which is UK 6? Number 2 is the one that got demoted.

But they are ones I really liked.

The pale blue ones would scare me with children stains and fact I spill stuff all the time but blame them

River island cigarette pants are fab for work. They do plain colours and more wacky prints, if you fancy something a bit more lively!!

Spotted these today and they're a lot nicer than they look in the pics. They do lots of different colours. Not as nice as the river island ones I linked to but a good budget option www.matalan.co.uk/mobile/product/detail/s2563665

What shoes with ankle grazers?

FoxyHarlow123 · 06/04/2014 22:43

Any shoes. Heels, kitten heels, wedges, flats (more casual though), loafers - literally any type.

peasandlove · 06/04/2014 22:54
