A charm bracelet for DD?

I like the idea of buying DD a charm bracelet for her 1st birthday, then adding a charm to it every year and giving it to her for her 18th.

If I did this I'd hope to have similar-style charms each year. I was thinking of Trollbeads as they've been around a long time, do you think that would work?

I know nothing about charm bracelets and would really appreciate a steer!

I know nothing about trollbeads so can't advise but what about Tiffany charm bracelets?

I did exactly that and I got a classic Tiffany silver bracelet. I felt like it was less likely to be a fab item. I suspect pandora and links (though links less so) may be very dated at some point)

Um, Tiffany sounds expensive - off to Google now.

Looked up the others - the Links plain charm bracelet is exactly the one I've always wished I had for myself!

I quite like the look of the Pandora bracelets too but take your point about them maybe bbecoming dated.

Definitely go for the Links of London one the as opposed to the pandora as I think MissWimpyDimple is right I'm sure these pandora bracelets are very popular as they are always advertised on television.

The Tiffany's one is beautiful and the charms are divine.

The Tiffany one really is lovely, but I think the budget might be more Links TBH. Will have a think about it though - I have a month or two to go yet.

My daughter got a hot diamonds charm bracelet. Its not high end but I think its classic.

I collect Redbalifrog, and regularly recommend them to other people.

Here are some examples of beads that would probably suit your purpose:

Their charms are really substantial, beautifully detailed, and offer excellent value for money. They've been around for quite a while now and are releasing new collections quite regularly.

Lots of good ideas, thank you. I wasn't sure if I was being a bit silly, so it's nice to know that others have done the same!

Yes, not sure what to do as an equivalent for DS either, though I'm tempted to just put an equal amount into his child trust fund each year on his birthday.

trollbeads are lovely. I have a silver charm bracelet that my mum and dad started for me and its very Dated and I wouldn't dream of wearing it now. its far too heavy and jangly too.

I collect trollbeads, Pandora, Thomas sabo karma beads myself now and they are much easier to wear. I have brought both dd's a trollbeads bracelet and add beads to them every so often. dd is now 8 and would love to wear hers but is too big as I brought an adult sized bracelet. I am contemplating buying a smaller bracelet so she can wear it on special occasions.

if you do want the more transitional charm bracelet then as well a slinks Thomas sabo do a plain link bracelet and you can add charms as well.

my dds god mother has done this for them and they love getting a new charm each year. she had the bracelet made by a local jeweler and has a new charm made every year. my dds are now 6 and 4 and the charms are becoming a little story of there life as she has had a monkey made for my dd2 2nd birthday as she was obsessed with them. she had ballet shoes made the year dd1 started dance classes. she has also has spare links made so the bracelet grown with them.

We did this for our DD's first birthday and have added charms most years since. It is a simple gold charm bracelet (from H Samuel I think) and we have to look for small charms for it but they all tell a story of her life at the time - she also had a bird as her first charm as it was the first word she signed, an elephant as we spent so much time at Whipsnade, a dog as she was obsessed :)
This year she was 11 and got a tiny opal that had been taken off a broach that had been converted for my 50th.
She loves it and the stories it tells :)

Meant to add - for DS's 1st birthday we got a tiny solid silver train that held a cake candle, made by a local silversmith. We had thought about adding carriages every year but haven't done. He is now 8 and it comes out every year for his cake which he loves. There has never been a problem that his sister's gets added to and his doesn't - different child, different present.

I rather like these, I have a charm necklace of theirs.
I also have a chamilla bangle which is now full of beads, a gold charm bracelet ive had for yrs and was given a Thomas sabo with one charm for mothers day.
I love charm bracelets!
I think its a lovely idea, I think actual charms would be nicer than beads but that's just my opinion.
