Over here all........

Thanks for your thoughts crepeys. I do indeed have DS with us, and hope he'll be a ray of sunshine for all, rather than the grumpy shit he's been all today.

DP fretting about the eulogy, and not much sleep to be had tonight, quite apart from the blow-up bed sitch, and someone - as yet undecided - having to sleep in the sitting room.

CointreauVersial · 15/04/2014 21:42

Thinking of you tomorrow, Herbs. Thanks

Auriga · 15/04/2014 22:05

yes, hope it all goes as well as it can tomorrow, Herbs. We'll be thinking of you.

QQ well done on the rising above annoyances Grin hope you're relaxing.

NUFC have a good holiday and BTM, a happy homecoming.

I've been back to work for two days without the benefits of my singing week being obliterated - result.

OTOH DCat may have cancer and we have to decide whether to investigate and treat, or just spoil her rotten. Think I'm inclining towards spoiling.

motherinferior · 15/04/2014 22:20

Auriga, we've gone down the spoiling route. So far dpuss seems to be remarkably sprightly if a bit fragile. Though somebody feline keeps peeing on the bathmats...

Herbs my lovely, tomorrow will be Not Fun but we are all here to hold your Crepey paw.

Stropperella · 15/04/2014 22:54

Best of luck for tomorrow, Herbs.

Auriga, so glad your singing week went well. Hope the positive effects stay with you for a long time. Sorry to hear about your cat. I would also go for the spoiling option, fwiw.

The GCSE stress is cranking up to unhinged level in our house, unfortunately. I can't do anything right, it seems. Tonight I was declared the worst mother in the world for not being able to "say anything useful". I asked what was meant by "useful", but apparently the fact that I had to ask just proved the point. Hmm [h

Still, lovely weather we're having...Grin Grin

Bon voyage, NU!

wilbur · 15/04/2014 23:05

Will be thinking of you tomorrow, herbs. Hope it all goes smoothly.

I'm off to Brighton to see a great mate tomorrow with a stop at Ikea en route. This may be a mistake, but I am hoping that the thought of fun on the beach will get us out of the store in double time.

cremeggafoam · 15/04/2014 23:32

Thinking of you tomorrow HerbsThanks

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 15/04/2014 23:42

Yes, all the best for tomorrow, Herbs.

Windy - Sainsbury's?? Confused

Blackduck · 16/04/2014 06:06

Herbs hope all goes as well as it can. Thinking of you.

NU have a fab break.

Here ANOTHER job I can go for has come up. So that's three applications I need to knock out in short order!

Two days to go and I am on my knees - roll on 4.00 on Thursday.

bigTillyMint · 16/04/2014 07:08

Thoughts are with you and yours today Herbs.

Strength to you and DD Stropps - when do they start? DD has been revising a couple of hours a day - she has some wk beg 12th May and some wk beg 10th June.

BD it sounds like jobs are like buses round your way - none for ages then 3 come at once!

Need to go down to the bakery for croissants before we pack up...

motherinferior · 16/04/2014 08:21

I am about to tackle a 'few questions' that an editor (book) has sent back with some copy. I have no idea. I am not a neurologist. I may weep...

NearTheWindymill · 16/04/2014 08:25

Good wishes for today Herbs.

The Sainsburys off our shared roundabout! A bit lateral but unless I'm thinking of the wrong person, I think our girls attend almost adjacent schools and there's a very nice Sainsburys just off the roundabout which I use on Tuesdays in term time when I do a late pick up.

Anyway only a few more weeks of that to go. Roll on GCSEs and a new and more local school. The last three years have nearly killed me.

beachyhead · 16/04/2014 09:32

Thinking of you, Herbs.

I've one more day work, then off for a week. Hurrah.

I have sent ds on an adventure today, involving a bike, a train, some chips and a coin arcade if he can find it! First time we've tried this, so it could be an interesting day.

Blackduck · 16/04/2014 09:45

Oh Beachy tell me more! Is that a bit like the 13 challenges for a 13 year old?

OP posts:
SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 16/04/2014 09:54

Windy, yes, that's me! Must try that Sainsbury's when we go down to see DD1 or to collect her. We usually end up in Waitrose.

hattymattie · 16/04/2014 10:28

Morning all. Have escorted DS to the hairdresser having finally cracked at unbrushed boys band looked. I told the hairdresser I wanted more James Bond - I'm quite pleased with this - I think DS is showing potential.

DD's have cleared off - DD1 is "revising physics" with her boyfriend. I am only reassured by this because boyfriend is top of the class in physics.

beachyhead · 16/04/2014 10:40

He and a friend are catching a train, with their bikes, to a seaside town.... they need to change trains (and platforms!). They are then cycling three miles along the seafront to see my dad, for a coke in the garden. They then cycle back to have chips, slot machines and every other seaside glory, before hopefully catching the train back. They have tickets, £10 and a bottle of water, with strict instructions not to go in the sea (which will of course be ignored!)

Hopefully it will show him there is a life away from a screen, if only for a day!

hattymattie · 16/04/2014 10:43

Beachy - I always wonder if mine'll end up in some far flung unknown destination when they do things like this (from whence I will inevitably have to fetch them).

motherinferior · 16/04/2014 10:48

I am forcing the Inferiorettes to do homework. DD2 has just come up weeping saying it's "so hard" and can't she finish half of it later. I feel really mean but also really impatient with her; she is a bright child, and the reason it's hard is it's quite a high standard and she needs to learn how to work at something. She's going to find secondary a bit of a shock at this rate...

bigTillyMint · 16/04/2014 11:05

Beachy that's fab - DS would love to do that with a mate! DD probably would tooSmile

We are at the airport - why is check-in so much easier when you are not in England? Only an hour and a half to wait for our flight!

Hatty, glad your DD has a good choice of bf!

Blackduck · 16/04/2014 11:18

I have to admit the homework here (all to do with time capsules) was done in a half hearted 'that will do' way. And I am not forcing ds to improve it. I have a strong dislike of creative large scale homework being given over the holidays...... (I might feel differently when he's at secondary)

OP posts:
SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 16/04/2014 11:35

DD2 is watching My Little Pony on telly (I weep). DD1 is still asleep. I had planned a Nice Trip to Greenwich today, but forgot that I have to go into work later to do a job interview. Candidate is in the US and six hours behind, so we have gone for the 4.00 slot. DD1 has the orthodontist later. I am having a tidy up, as no-one else seems to, and am afraid that it will involve washing the kitchen floor as well (again, I seem to be the only person who understands the mop).

I have checked DD1's grades online and she seems to have gone from a D in science to an A. Confused We got a letter saying that she would be failing science unless she turned this homework around... which she clearly seems to have done. She exasperates me - she is clearly bright, but doesn't want to put in any effort, claiming that it is "all too hard." She has two tough exams next year (IB French and AP European History) so she will need to pull her finger out and put in some effort for these (both of which are her choice!). Fortunately neither seem to have had any holiday homework (although this may well mysteriously appear on Sunday afternoon, before they go back to school).

motherinferior · 16/04/2014 11:52

I am going to take my two out for lunch.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 16/04/2014 11:55

Oh that's a nice idea. We could go locally here, and avoid the crowds on the south bank. Or we could just have the pierogi and go out later.

QueenQueenie · 16/04/2014 11:58

I am contemplating whether late late breakfast or early lunch is the way to go...
Will go for long walk with ds2 and ddog in a bit.
Dh in London working Hmm and ds1 is revising for 8 hours a day with half hour breaks for lunch and tea.
It's all go here!
