Okay - which dress do you prefer?

I'm on the the hunt for a nice dress to wear to several occasions: a christening, a birthday party and also to the races in a few months time (posted about this earlier in relation to a different dress!).

Which of these two do you prefer?

plain navy

whistles bodycon

Without knowing what they look like on (I'm a size 10, average height, this style of dress generally suits me, early 30s, paleish blonde ...) I know it's hard, but just really having trouble deciding which I would prefer! Any help welcome

The second one is more fun.

ihatethecold · 26/03/2014 20:04

vivi
That website is fab

Like the navy dress more than the whistles one.

The pied a terre dress is gorgeous.

Latraviata · 26/03/2014 20:25

I don't like either of them-sorry. And the priceShock!

Have a look at The pretty dress company or Deadly is the female for wow dresses for a lot less buck.

The Whistles one. The other one is a bit plain IMHO.

tigerdriverII · 26/03/2014 21:54

The navy one's a bit frumpy and the buttons are a bit meh.

The Whistles one is much nicer but might sleeveless be better if you need it for summer?

Giveusabreakplease · 26/03/2014 21:57

I prefer the first but not the second, think you could find something much better.

Walnut8 · 26/03/2014 22:10

Thanks everyone. I'd prefer at least half sleeves I think (autumn where I am). I agree the navy is very plain & could border on frumpy (especially for the party) but I'm not 100% on the print of the whistles one - I like that it's a bit quirky but not sure if it would look any good irl.

Sigh. Back to the drawing board.

For those who say I can find better, any suggestions welcome!! Just need sleeves please!

what about this? too short? mint velvet

OP posts:
Walnut8 · 27/03/2014 04:51

too boring coast?

Or I might be able to do this with a bit of tailoring so that it was a closer fit coast shift

I'm not a fan of the mint velvet one, it looks like a tablecloth. The colour of the tangerine coast one is great, but it would need accessories as you're right it's quite plain. I like the print one but it's quite dark - might not work for occasions like the races or a christening. What about this?

Walnut8 · 27/03/2014 06:22

love it whereis but I'm just not sure about animal print for either a christening or the races. I know it can be done but I just don't know if I'd feel comfortable. That was the real issue with the first French Connection dress I linked to on a former thread.

I love the coast one! What would you do for a jacket though esp for the christening? Think it would have to be black to match the zip? Maybe that would be fine with a tropical pink/orangey coloured corsage.

MadBusLady · 27/03/2014 08:32

Btw if there's any particular occasion of the three when you really want to look great then buy more for that Smile

whereisshe · 27/03/2014 09:08

this?

whereisshe · 27/03/2014 09:10

or this?

ThatBloodyWoman · 27/03/2014 09:13

LOVE the navy one.

Will need to soften it for the christening of course.

coffeehouse · 27/03/2014 15:51

I think the navy one is gorgeous...

Stokey · 27/03/2014 16:02

I would suggest looking at The Outnet or Matches

You can find some great dresses around the £200 mark
