HOC winter lip stick help

I was a bit daunted by the bright lipsticks on my colour day as I was a non lipstick wearer. I did succumb to a lip gloss though, and then a nice Rimmel colour. But I've lost them both.

Any ideas what I could try? I'd like something as light/ subtle as possible while still being winter. I picked up a maybelline thing the other day and it was SO bright! I dazzled myself. Then it wouldn't come off as it was a 24 hour stain thing!

You do get used to the brightness, I promise!

My 'frequent use' lip sticks include:

Collection2000 'Prohibition' (burgundy red)
Kate Moss Rimmel No. (matte burgundy red)
Chanel Coco Shine No. (fuchsia)
Chanel Rouge Allue No.104 (easy to wear red)

I wouldn't say any of those are really bright but they do take a bit of getting used to after not wearing any lipstick at all. No.7 and Revlon do some nice lip pencil things with more of a sheer texture.

My new Lipstick Queen Black Tie lipstick in Velvet Rope just arrived! Very nice indeed. A very similar colour to the Rimmel No.& but a much nicer consistency and texture. Lovely packaging too. My new evening lipstick I think!
